Last I heard no one wanted to fund it and Leo Dicaprio pulled out of it because of that anti-semtic rant Gibson went on a while back. It was supposed to be a huge 3 part epic done in some norse language just like he did with passion of the christ and apocalypto. I dont think it will probably be made.
Yes I watched it Kellen. Only watched it sporadically the first two seasons but tonight was well done....especially the battle scene....so I may watch it regularly this season. Looked well produced.
Yes, all those details you've listed are perfectly in keeping & I heard a radio excerpt , whereas it was said, that 50 real ships were being built, & that photography would give the effect of a fleet.And that filming in Atlantic waters was sought , as. Gigantic Authentic waves were needed. I figure the vision was less than realistic. More stylized dreaming than reality. Shame Bcoz Passion OTC was pretty good.
It is well produced. They have done pretty decent with the history of it so far. I wont give away the ending if it ends with Ragnars death that is which it doesnt have to as 3 of his sons are famous in history as well. They basically gave away how he dies in the first season before they knew that it was going to be a big hit, then they pretended they didnt give it away.

Its the kind of movie I would love to see made for sure luckily history channel give us this show as we probably wont see Gibsons epic. I wish history channel would do more historical based shows like this. They mentioned one about the Samurai but I never heard anything else about it. History channel does have a new show about a CI who is sent into a biker gang in California that is going to air next week. Ill watch it but I dont have a good feeling about it.
For anyone who is a fan of Vikings history channel has announced another scripted history show called Knightfall about the Friday 13th fall of the Knights Templar.
Got a cheap deal on Amazon Prime here in the UK a few days ago, works out under £5 a month,their video package is inclusive so will be checking out Vikings on that, can't wait. Have been tempted to torrent it but can't find anything decent under 16gb file size which would take me a day to download and thats just the first season. Have heard good things about it. Will have a look at Black Sails too, hopefully it's not Pirates of the Caribbean type nonsense
I often find when a show is not up to much it's when they mess about with camera work or have a lot of dark lighting masking deficiencies in the story line or era

The biker gang show was actually pretty good. Hopefully this Templar Knights show is decent. A mix of documentary and scripted historical shows would be best, it did get old back in the day when history channel was really the nazi channel as every show was about the nazis.
Vikings has its historical inaccuracies but its one of the most historically accurate TV dramas out there. It's a shame because I've studied the history and so I know all the important spoilers.
That's true. They have taken liberties with characters that are really believed to have been multiple people as well and combined them into one person such as Applestan who was really 2 different monks who were taken as slaves one of whom who is belived to have fought with them later.
Enjoyed season one. Season two was ok. Will wait and see on season 3. For a moment though I thought this was going to be a thread on the ex. speedway team
Season 3 has been on amazon prime(started) back in february but ive missed it so far on H. I can always grab the box set. Season 4 arrives in 2016 here by all accounts.
