Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic out for rest of season after rupturing knee ligaments against Basle. According to the Telegraph, "Manchester Unitedâs hangover from their Champions League exit in Basle has intensified with news that Nemanja Vidic is sidelined for the rest of the season with ruptured cruciate knee ligaments." Do you think SAF will sign a new CB in January or pray Jones and Smalling stay fit or equally as important Rio and Evans find some form? please log in to view this image
Genuinely, do United fans think Vidic has played his last game for United? Was rumours of shipping him out this coming summer, can you see that happening?
No one will sign him now. But he is still a very good player. Rio will surprise you and play a few games. Looking forward to Didier v Jones though
I wonder if we try a cheeky bid for Alex, but on the midfielder and striker options we were linked with Sneider,Huntelaar and Benzema or was that just the fans
Horrible injury, but on a selfish note can only help boost Spurs' chance of overhauling United. Evans is a lightweight replacement at best!
Losing Vidic would be a blow to most teams, if not all. A quality imposing CM\DM in Jan will go a long way to ease the pressure from the defence
Spurs will provide their own downfall.. as usual. I think ye'll scrape 4th, everyone is fit and happy atm but a long way to go yet.
Not City, but seriously this could ruin your chance of retaining the league? Always Vidic is your main stay - what a player to miss for the season when you are so down..!! I don't want to use that 'one man' team phrase again to reiterate the point. But again I think he could be back for late season fixtures if not earlier. thoughts?
good shout out.. vidic is a top class genuine player who should wished above all the club boundaries.
Every time theres rumors about Vidic leaving he comes out and says he's perfectly happy here and has no intention of leaving. The last time the rumors got really bad, he signed a new contract and fergie made him captain. Don't think he's going anywhere.
I would say that without Vidic we would need a minor miracle (or major City collapse) to win the league now. The 1-0 wins we have been picking up in the PL recently will be much harder to get without Vidic in defence. But I reckon we are still odds on for second place, particularly if we can get a decent substitute in the January window - Alex or Gary Cahill would be my preferred choices.
The 1 nils are primarily down to the return of Vidic. You're right that they will be very hard to achieve now he is gone. The Utd back four has been chopped and changed all season due to injuries and in addition to losing a highly experienced keeper in VDS; clean sheets will be a luxury in 2012. Unless Utd find form and inspiration from somewhere or City shoot themselves in the foot (which is always possible) the chances of us overtaking them this season will disappear very quickly. Need to rebuild from January onwards.
A January window swoop for Titus Bramble could be the shrewd move that would see him, partnered with the classy Evans, delivering a 20th title to swamp towers
Could try and buy that World class defender Lescott 😁. He's got Messi shaking in his boots! 😜
