Bayern have spent huge amounts of money and are about to spend a load more, not sure how they're any different to any other big club..
I wasn't clear, I did mean this season, apologies. I know you've probably watched it a lot more than I have but just from what I saw. Don't get me wrong our top 6 overall are way ahead of theirs (bar Dortmund/Bayern) but the football the rest of the league play is far better imo. Sunderland-Reading have been absolutely woeful imo this season, whilst they've picked up points in some unexpected places, they are so drab to watch. Above them, the only exciting teams to watch have been Southampton under Pochettino and Swansea, everybody else has been poor by usual standards. I've just found myself more fixated on the Bundesliga, perhaps it's because it's fairly new to me! Nothing to do with the above but they've got everything spot on over there as DL said; massive stadiums, safe standing, fan focused, cheap (including free travel!!!) and the ability to drink/smoke inside. Perfect.
They sure have. The thing with fan ownership is that as much as we all say we'd love it for our club it would mean going down the table in the short term at least which I think most fans would find worse. It's great that there are teams out there showing it can work though.
Its a shame to have to agree ,but it is so true. We in the PL need to learn some lessons from the way things are managed in Germany!
If you look into how Dortmund got their giant stadium, its easy to see why they can afford to charge such low prices..
Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Philip Lahm, Thomas Muller maybe.... Not to mention real football people like Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at board level both of whom are Bayern legends and know the club inside out.
Pretty much every league is a 2 or 3 horse race. The horses change occasionally, and now and then you get a photo finish. I don't go for this "excitement" thing with the PL, it's just exciting because our Teams are involved. Sure the fans from Dusseldorf or Durban get excitement from their games as well. This year the German teams are better than ours, and so are the Spaniards, so it's simple to pick the best League 1. Bundesliga 2. Spain 3. PL
You judge a league by it's strongest asset and weakest member. Would Reading even get as much as 24 points in La Liga or Bundesliga? No chance. Would Man Utd win La Liga or Bundesliga? Again, no chance. Would Bayern win the PL? Comfortably. Would Real win the PL? Easily. Hoffenheim and Zaragoza would both easily stay up in our league as well. I'd go a step further in saying Spain's top 3 and Germany's, are better than any PL side and only the top 10 in the PL would survive in their leagues.
