My favourite bands, tribute to the great Johnny Cash, who anniversary of his death was on 12th Sept. Take it away Black Stone Cherries.
Haven't posted for a while - too busy Hilling Killary I always liked the Brand New Heavies - I got into them when they were more of a London based acid jazz outfit but they became really popular with a string of hits in the 90s and they are still going strong. When Siedah Garrett was with them they were very popular (she went on to write Man in The Mirror for Michael Jackson and has worked with other big names). Here she is with the Heavies in a fab, funky video that's been done cleverly in retro stylie with Hugh Heffner having a cameo:
This was when they had Nicole Russo up front. When I first heard this I pictured a black person because her voice is so soulful. This may make you a little hot under the collar chaps. What a groove.
I have (had cos one died) three older sisters. They made sure I was listening to the Walker Brothers, The Beach Boys, Motown and The Beatles from the age of about 5. That track brings back some memories.
I tried posting some Four Tops/ Levi Stubbs vids, but they wouldn't reproduce. I don't have much luck sometimes with video posting. Your sisters had good taste.
