Will this be another build up hope/knock it down match? We seem to go from one thing to another lately but never quite getting anywhere. I mean, we know we can win matches but will we. Of course we will......................(gulp) COYG
Nope. We could lose this one and win the rest which would probably see us survive. Either that or you could just put your post on repeat.

Look, it's easy to be critical and talk Argyle down all the time. Just ask Plymborn. But, these results, given the season so far, are nothing drastically unexpected are they. We have known deep down for quite sometime where we are going to end up. I was listening to some Southampton supporters on the radio a few days back. One of them hit the nail on the head for me. "I'm quite alright with playing in the Championship rather than watch us get beat every week". That's how I feel at the moment about us going back to league one. I would much rather have a season where we can compete and possibly bounce again that have another season where we are just barely clinging on. The Championship was a bit soon for us but if we can bounce back then next time I think we will be much healthier and more ready. It's sad but football isn't about football anymore in the professional leagues it's about money. Premiership top half a dozen pretty much are the money clubs. Championship is pretty much the same. League one sitting one and two........yep it's the richest. In the good old days before Sky killed the game it was everyone in with a chance every season.
It’s been clear for weeks that the odds were very much stacked against staying up. If we’d won last night, there would have been a tiny bit of hope left but that’s gone, especially as of the 5 teams we have yet to play, 4 are still chasing promotion. Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem so dark as the many relegations I’ve seen since I started going to Argyle as a small child. When we went up, it was said that it was a year or two earlier than planned. That sounds odd in a football context because most clubs don’t have a plan in the first place. They lurch from owner to owner, success to failure, riches to near insolvency. Simon Hallett is different, I understand his background and how he’ll have seen it. So when he says it was early. I believe him. The new investor is apparently coming on board to fit the old timetable and these things can’t be rushed - shouldn’t be rushed in fact if you want to get them right. What’s the saying? Act in haste, repent at leisure. So I do believe we can bounce back and with funds available both for players in the short term and the academy and training ground in the medium term, it’ll be in much better order. What does worry me a little is where we’ve gone wrong with recruitment. In the Lowe and Schumacher eras, we brought in a series of good players. Quite a few were on loan and didn’t stay long but it seemed like a conveyor belt that wouldn’t stop. It seems like that came to a grinding halt but perhaps it’s just at the higher level, the conveyor belt can’t bring players of the required quality. Extra money can obviously fix that but equally the belt can just carry the money away if it’s not loaded with the right things Was it just the money available didn’t stretch to Championship quality? Is the problem that we recruited for the possession.style we were playing before and not for Muslic’s blood and snot methods? Did Lowe and Schumacher have a bigger influence than we thought in what was supposed to be group decision making? Did Neil Dewsnip lose the plot? Did Foster and Rooney break a previously successful system? Something went wrong because without naming names, there are a few in this squad who haven’t lived up to expectations. The long injury to Joe Edwards has been a big blow I think. Not only are is own performances inspirational, but anyone else not giving 100% out there would very soon receive on-field counselling that would make their ears burn. Apportioning blame for the sake of it is pointless. It’s always the future that matters. But it is important to consider what went wrong in order not to repeat the mistakes. I like Muslic. He’s got more character than either of the last two although it’s a different character to the two before that. He inherited a mess and had little or no opportunity to influence the January transfers. In the absence of a Director of Football, how’s it going to work in the summer? For the first time since he’s been here, after Saturday’s game, he actually came out in front of the players and was fist pumping to the fans rather then just mingling at the back of the mob. He must have thought we’d turned a corner! So did we! I do hope the fans give him a chance and realise that it isn’t always the manager’s fault as it might have been 10 or 20 years ago. The money men and the techies matter too now. It’s process not just personality and a sheepskin coat. He has now, also for the first time, been critical of the players after last nights debacle. Having watched the whole thing, I can see why he’s frustrated. As I said, there a small number of players in this squad who haven’t delivered. Then you’ve got your Randells and your Sorinolas and your Hardies and Wrights and Mumbas (not at full back though please, pretty please not at full back) and all those centre backs who are apparently willing to run through brick walls for Muslic and the club even when not fully fit. This was not the case under Foster and Rooney when the whole team looked as though they hadn’t been told there was a wall, where it was or what to do with it if they found it by accident. That’s when the damage was done.
I can't really argue with any of that notdistant. I like Muslic as a man as well but on footballing matters the jury has to be still out. We have had players who haven't done their thing but we have also been hammered by injury crisis after injury crisis almost throughout. Players doing well get injured and are not just out for a week. It will be interesting to see just how many of "the faithful" stay with the club next season. Previously they have been somewhat fickle with support. I hope they stay with it because Hallett deserves a bit of loyalty. "Resurgam" is a Plymouth motto and it will fit Argyle again.
