"I'm in a constant battle....." at first I thought you meant the Guardian Newspaper but guess you meant Social Workers. I don't get the notdistant tag on them either but in fairness I don't read papers as have said so have no idea which one stands for what anymore. Murdock has other things on his mind these days as he has just acquired a new kitchen......or was it a Hall. Well some room anyway.

Demographics: Grauniad is read by teachers, social workers and local government officers.

Sunday paper is one of life's great joys - if you don't get a hernia carrying it in from the front door and can find the paper amongst the adverts.

Correct order is Sports, News and gospel according to Jeremy Clarkson.

Grauniad is what Private Eye calls the Guardian owing to high numbers of misprints in it.

    More importantly, Accrington 0 - 3 Portsmouth.

I was in local government and I didn't read any of the papers them either. Glad you explained Grauniad though because I would never have got that. Anyway what did you mean by "carry the Sunday paper in from the front door"? Does that mean you exploit the kids from the poor estate down the road with child labour? Shame on you.

I do have the weekend papers delivered from the local corner newsagent. I pay pretty generously for the service but I can only hope a fair share is passed on to the paperboy/girl/elderly gentleman.

We once had a lad deliver who was brought around in his dad's car. It was quite touching althouth whether a) it was profitable or b) gave the right introduction to work I'm not sure.

I didn't say ALL local government officers (or social workers) read the Guardian but statistically a significant number of the "caring professions" do.

There's a rule from Yes Prime Minister that will help you remember who reads what:

Sir Humphrey: The only way to understand the Press is to remember that they pander to their readers' prejudices.

Jim Hacker: Don't tell me about the Press. I know *exactly* who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by the people who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by people who think they *ought* to run the country. The Times is read by the people who actually *do* run the country. The Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country. The Financial Times is read by people who *own* the country. The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by *another* country. The Daily Telegraph is read by the people who think it is.

Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun?

Bernard Woolley: Sun readers don't care *who* runs the country - as long as she's got big tits.

Now that I can relate to. I used to love that programme and oh how true so much of it was.
