Is this going to be our first away win of the season and start a trend? Course it is............ COYG
Ian foster is suggesting that he will put out the strongest team possible. We know that he will have to make changes from the 3-1 home win against Cardiff. Alfie Devine and Adam Forshaw are both cup-tied......Darko Gyabi is not eligible against his parent club. I'm assuming that Hazard will still be preferred before Burton. Will Foster risk the recovering Lewis Gibson....who has proved that when fit he is an automatic first choice.....maybe more important to keep him back for the next league match. It seems possible from what is being said at Leeds... that because of striker injuries and the need to freshen up the team....who will be playing their third game within seven days... that they will be resting some players.....so maybe their desire to get back into the Premiership will mean we have a better chance than many expect.
I never believe any of the pre match crap that managers put out about not having this or playig too much of that or concentrating on promotion or..........(you name it they say it). Leeds will be no pushover.
Todays officials are........ Ref.....L Smith............30 games.....114 yellows.....5 reds. Ass Ref's.....J Hunt & G Byrne. 4th Off.....S Allison. Officiated at a lot of games already.
Watching BBC Sport....and they were talking about the match....with pictures of the managers behind them.....Steven Schumacher was the Argyle manager in the picture....DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS BACK.
Leeds...1-0...Argyle....H/T. Anthony...31mins. Being dominated.....how unearth is it only 1-0. Not a good game to throw Caleb Roberts to the wolves.....and it seems Mumba is being a bit of liability....not looking a £1million player. 28% possession for Argyle.
Leeds...1-1...Argyle...F/T Equalizer from Randell in the 73rd minute. Argyle hang in there.....Leeds do everything but score a second.....and Argyle grow into the second half.....and might have nicked it with a Hardie chance.
Once again Ian Foster seems to be able to make an impact at half time. Considering we had players missing, a very good result at a tough venue. A few more quid in the coffers from what’s likely to be a sold out Home Park replay at least!
Have to say I didn't think we were coming back in this one even if the stats got better in the second half. Clearly Leeds are one of the top teams in the Championship so no matter how it was arrived at to come away with a draw is no mean feat. It won't be any easier at Home Park either and not sure either side wanted an extra game. Still it is what it is and a bit more revenue in the pot won't go amiss. The one stand out about Argyle this season seems to be the ability to come back from behind. There was a time that never happened. Now we seem to have to go one down before we start to join in. We don't do comfortable wins do we.
In the end it’s only the score that counts. We were as good as them on that basis. I do get the impression we aren’t as brittle as we were. Onward and upward.
Quite agree. No matter how one sided a set of stats may be the only one as I've always said that counts is the goals for. You can have 100 attempts on goal but if none of them go in then they are completely wasted. You can have possession for 90% of a game but if you do nothing with the ball then again it's wasted.
I don’t agree that it was a bad time to give Caleb Roberts a game. Quite the reverse. We have midfielders cup-tied. I haven’t seen Caleb Roberts but I have seen a couple of cameos from Freddie Isakka. OK, it’s a bit different playing up-front but he doesn’t strike me as being unready when needed. I’m not knocking the FA Cup: it’s good for the club financially and in terms of public image. But obviously it’s the league that matters most so surely it’s an ideal time to give the lad a game. By the sounds of it, he didn’t let himself or the club down and the best of luck to him. If not now, when?
Although our fortunes started to improve when Roberts & C Wright where replaced by Butcher & Bundu....in fact Mustapha Bundu from what was being said had one of his best games for Argyle. We do need another experienced striker before the window closes.....Ryan Hardie's workload is to high and I'm not sure he will last the season out....it was so noticeable when he eventually came off in the Cardiff game that he was totally spent.
Yes but he had an absolutely heroic game chasing down defenders and the goal keeper absolutely non-stop. We will definitely need cover for him if he’s going to play like that every week.
Jordan Houghton was unavailable yesterday due to an ankle injury suffered in training, The injury will be assessed next week but it's thought to be similar to the one that kept Lewis Gibson out for a couple of games.
It was also mentioned somewhere that Houghton's wife was near to delivery time and he had been given leave of absence. So one or the other....or maybe both ?
