SUNDERLAND boss Gus Poyet believes the international break has arrived at the perfect time for re-recruited Santiago Vergini, with the Argentine defender allowed a much-needed breather from an intensive start to the season. After a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last term, the 26-year-old joined Sunderland on a permanent basis just nine days before the start of the 2014-15 campaign. And Poyet admits that the versatile defender was not given a momentâs rest as the Black Catsâ head coach tried to acclimatise him in double quick time to new team-mates and a new style of play. âThe international break is perfect for Santiago, because when he got here for pre-season, it was play, play, play, play!â said Poyet. âNow he can relax. âBut itâs like heâs never left. âLast week in training, he started running in that specific kind of running. âItâs come natural for him.â Though Verginiâs preferred role is centre-half, he has played as right-back without complaint in his three games so far this season. âHeâs a happy boy and everything is good for him because heâs a good lad,â said Poyet. âThe players know him very well now too, and know what theyâre going to get. âYou know what, itâs not about the praise from the manager or the fans â itâs from your own team-mates. âWhen youâve got team-mates who want YOU to play, it means a lot and Santiago has that at this club.â http://m.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/sunderland-boss-timely-break-for-vergini-1-6821565
think thats a cock up we cant sign him permanently due to his third party ownership unless vergini bought himself out of it and we paid him back via a signing on fee?
We don't own him as The B****i Effect says down to 3rd party ownership, but I do believe he's free at the end of the season.
