And VP could sign a contract for nowt in 6 months and move next season for free?

You see Man Utd view it worth it to outlay £20m (effectively blow £20m as he will have no resale value) because the alternative is failure.

We may well pay £12m for Fletcher but the alternatives is failure for us AND in 2 or 3 years time, Fletcher will still have a resale value if he is sold?

    You hope. :p

I didn't even know Man U had put a £15 mill bid in for him a while ago Cest, must have missed it some how.

As for Fletcher if he comes here, whatever the price, he will get my full support.
And of course hope he shoves my words down my throat.
This isn't some unknown player from abroad, I have seen him play and he just doesn't do it for me.

But like I say he can prove me wrong and will happily eat my humble pie. :)

My point is though, god forbid we get relegated, if we buy him for £12mil and in 2 seasons we go down, even though he has scored double figures in both seasons, who on here would be saying, he is worth £20million and thats what we should get, max he will be worth is 7 million (and thats probably pushing it)

So how the hell can Wolves want or us buy him for £12 million when 2 years ago he was bought for 7 million, but they went down.

It really doesnt make any sense to me, if they bought him for 20 million, and were selling him for 12 million, thats fine and dandy but not 7 million, go down, they want 12 million.

and you know me by now on this player, I dont think he is worth 7 million, never mind 12 million+.

    Just saying like......

RVP ~ 38 goals last season, 15 assists. £20m seems quite reasonable in todays market.

The thing I find hard to understand is paying 12 million but have him paid under our wage cap.
Where we could buy other players for a couple of Mill and pay them high wages and the overall spend would be the same.

And no I still haven't come up with the name of another striker personally. :p

Cestria you know very little about my club if you think not signing Van Persie will lead to failure. We would never look at resale value of a player because we have the power to sell shirts with his name on the back to cover his fee, our fan base means we need not worry about things other than trophies. If we don't sign him, we move on. Our current strike force took us to a Champions League final little over 16 months ago so we're more than capable to carry on without him, in fact providing we get a draw this time round instead of humped 6-1 at home by City, we'll take last season's results all over again, because we'd be champions.

Now why don't you go write the next chapter of 50 Shades of Martin for us all to enjoy.

Do you think he will improve your team? He is going from being the star at Arsenal to be just another player at Utd.

    Can him and Rooney co-exsist,

Could this be an end to some of your present strikers? If so will it be Wellbeck.

I think it's more the £11.5 million a year in wages it'll cost. Wozzerz... that's a lot of money... £220,000.00 PW.

Fergie wouldn't buy somebody who doesn't fit into the United style of play after the Berbatov fiasco. Berba has been good for the most part but I guess the £32m would have been better spent elsewhere, and I also reckon if we do sign RVP it would mean the end for Berbatov.

There wouldn't be any others released until at least next summer, depending on how Hernandez' next season goes. I'd personally rather keep Hernandez and release Welbeck if I had to choose from the two. Rooney and RVP would work together in my opinion because Rooney likes to drop deep and play off a striker, like in Hernandez' first season at United. I wouldn't be devastated if we don't sign RVP though, and it certainly wouldn't lead to failure...if we do fail it won't be the striker department that lets us down.

No offence but I don't think Fergie will ever be doing business with your lot again after Brucegate and Last-day-of-seasongate <laugh>

    That Poznan was class, though!

He'll have to console himself with his other 12 Titles (or whatever the number is) and all them cups :)

Don't know could always coax him with a few bottle's of his favourite tipple, then he may do business.
That avatar reminds me of our milkman we had delivering to us year's ago.
