Now that Celtic are out of the Champions League he may be receptive to a move away.

 

Celtic will have built their financial plan on CL football so I'd say they need to sell now..

 

They say he is a class act not seen much of him tbh.......it was mentioned he was keeping his options open until there champions league quest was sorted.The small village in Durham we're linked with him.

 

£7-8m should be enough to secure him.

Seems comfortable on the ball, reminds me a bit of a young Colo.

 

Now that we have Mbemba we don't need a replacement for Colo then? Must be better options?!

Van Dijk has shown touches of class and composure, I just don't think he's very good. Kept out of the national side by bang average defenders like Ron Vlaar.

 

He wasn't that good at Groningen. He's made to look better than he is by the poor standard of the SPL. Stick him in the PL and he will be as bad as Williamson.

 

I think Southampton have been linked to him for most of the summer transfer window, £11 million is the price being quoted, as always at this time of the window it's a poker draw between buyer and seller. Question is he any better than what we have available to us at the moment ?

 

I haven't watched enough of him to really comment. I quite like the sound of this Tunisia fella at Monaco. He was missing in action for them last night, but perhaps that's because he is bound for a CL club in Italy. He sounds no nonsense and a leader. That is what we need alongside young Mbemba. Someone who won't get bullied and will actually organise our defence. We haven't had this for a long time.

Indeed. That was the other club and they were their conquerers last night. If Monaco had won, it would have helped. The fact that his agent reckons Italy or Spain, Juve and Valencia are linked, its not exactly looking good is it?

 

Aymen (Abdennour) to that, he's 26 now and hitting top form, unfortunately 26 is too old for the Ashley plan - although we did give a new contract to Colo.

 

Interesting that schteve used ...defenders coming into their prime at 26 year old plus as part of the Colo extension press conference ...maybe he is trying too/acknowledging the flaws in the buy young with sell on value ..diktat

I'm pretty sure he's on our way to us, but for around £10m+. As for how good he is you can never really tell until he plays a few games in PL but there isn't many people I'll trust more on CB judgement than our Ron.

Also worth noting a lot of people thought Wanyama wasn't good enough for the PL and look at him now. Though from what I've seen of VVD not sure he'll do quite as well as that.

 

I think the very fact we are even mentioned in dispatches for players who cost this much is progress after the last few seasons. As you say, Koeman knows his onions when it comes to defending.
