http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2012-08-06/usmanov-arsenal-are-in-decline/ I personally don't care how many trophies the guy can win us i don't want anyone of his reputation to be in charge of arsenal making us another man city but i am interested to see the general consensus so i've attached a poll.
Kronke is a stupid man with idiotic facial hair. If he's left in charge for too long, he'll do what he did to the St. Louis rams in the NFL, he turned them from superbowl contenders to a league laughing stock.
would you rather be man city mach 2 with short term success or long term success with stability? Usmanov's reputation speaks for himself. I'll always support arsenal no matter what but i will be distraught if he takes over....no exaggeration!
we have long term stabililty and i believe success too. With usmanov we may well end up like leeds or malaga. Far be it for me to take the moral high ground but are you guys really comfortable with someone of usmanovs ilk leading the club..i would feel so let down and disappointed ashamed even!
With the greatest respect matey your argument shows your age.I doubt if you know Arsenal pre-Wenger and you started supporting us because we were the #1 team.I've really known the **** times.I've known us nearly get relegated,go 18 years without winning the league,8 years without a trophy. It just one of the prices you pay for supporting a team.As far as i'm converned Usmanov can **** off.Kroenke has only been in charge since last year and it look like some money is being spent this year.I'm willing to give the bloke a chance to see what happens.
mate, i know about the GG years, where we tended to yo-yo between winning the league and finishing 9th etc. I know Wenger has provided stability and a reserved spot in the top 4. But by the end of this season, again, we would have gone 8 years without a trophy, there are 2 teams with far better starting 11's, about 4 with better squads. I'm not suggesting we go all Citeh stle with usmanov's cash, just saying we should spend a little extra to reinforce the squad depth. I know le boss is tackling that this summer, but it could be done further.
We finished 3rd last season even after how the season started.I believe we are in a far stronger position than last year. You tell me the 4 squads that are stronger than ours
I think Chelsea now have the strongest squad in the league, Citeh have the best 11, but Chelsea have more depth.
Depth but where? Too me, it looks like all their depth are in similar positions. Mata,Hazard brothers, Marin and Oscar. For those role, yes they do indeed have depth. But what about the other areas?
They have 4 good CB's, some tidy midfielders. The only area they're thin at is striker, they could do with some signings there. Whereas Citeh have too many strikers, Chelsea don't have enough (i'm suprised they didn't go after RvP tbh)
You can only judge Kronke on what he is actually doing at the club. We had a decent finish last season and we are investing in the squad. Isn't that what we've all been asking for ? There's a lot of guff spouted about what he's done elsewhere and what he'll do at Arsenal. I prefer to make my judgements based on what he's actually doing at Arsenal.
Even if Usmanov did come in he wouldnt have to Spend like Man City or Chelsea needed to do as we already have a great foundation. Excellent Stadium which will increase revenue. Good core of players. The only thing i feel we are missing is probably 2-3 world class players. You have to Remember that Man City didnt have many good players (Kompany apart) and Chelsea where just flirting around the top 4.
I'd rather base my judgements on a variety of things, including their history. A touch extreme I'll grant you but if I know a man is a *****phile then I wouldn't say "I prefer to make my judgements based on what he actually does to my kid"! Personally I'd rather neither were anywhere near our club and, based on how we're being run, don't need either. We're currently being run as a self-sufficient model which, whilst it may annoy many for our lack of big spending, is admirable considering the current climate. I fail to see why we need a billionaire at the helm if they don't invest.
Maybe the ***** reference is a bit extreme, but I take your point That said, I think his franchises is the US are a completely different entity to his one at Arsenal. I know there have been problems there, but I don't think it necessarily follows that the same will happen here. As for having a Billionaire at the helm, regardless of who it is, you're right that if they're not investing any of their personal wealth into the club, then it doesn't really matter how much cash they have. The only reason they are able to get into that position in the first place is because they can afford the shares.
