One thing I DO know about McLuhan is that he never took himself too seriously. Met him at a party when he did a visitor lecture at Harvard. His laconic Canadian accent was just perfect for piss-taking!
Then your posts do not do you justice. I didn't post on here looking for an argument but you seem to have decided that I am the kind of poster you don't like. I just thought the OP had posted a decent article. You just picked on the wrong guy Dave.
Understandable comments from a glory supporter who only knows about football history from 1972 onwards, 17 major trophies and 6th on the all time English list suggests otherwise, yes Liverpool are 1st but soon to be 2nd. Yes new stadiums have to be paid for, just like redeveloping Klanfield will have to be if that ever arrives. We will enjoy our new stadium, it will be first class with a first class atmosphere (it has been designed with acoustics in mind bty), hopefully it will be completed by 2016.
Spurs are okay really - few ball bag supporters but we all have them. Prefer them over Chelsea at least!
Stop waffling CB, Dave told you hes been a red since the early 50s and was a red while LFC were in the 2nd division and the Blueshite ruled the local roost, my family are all reds and have been for generations. You pre-ordained 'glory hunter' opinion is totally warped.
Spot on ! Would much rather the battle for champs league involved a different set of teams year in year out (apart from us, deluded i know) Ground looks smart, good luck with it, hope it goes well for you all. Slightly off topic ( which is most unlike me ) but has anyone heard a rumour about us losing our fourth champs league spot (england not liverpool btw), that could really put the cat among the pigeons. A mate was saying due to a few poor efforts from our teams in Europe that this is a possibility within next three seasons? Also told you we should bar the welsh
Not like he's going to though. He's hardly been an ambramovic or mansour has he. He's treated the club like an investment like most owners. Can't see him giving 400 million to the club. He'll either loan from banks or loan the money himself at a tidy interest rate ( for himself).
Only the top leagues get 4 places so it depends on the uefa coefficient which depends on the country's performances in European competitions. I believe only 3 leagues get 4 places currently Spain,England, Italy ranked In that order. Therefore if German and Italian teams perform better than ours we would lose a champions league place Edit: http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/country/index.html Germany actually ahead of Italy. Interestingly we are still 1 place ahead of man city in uefas club rankings and 11 places ahead of spurs.
He's put a lot of money into Spurs. They've never really struggled on transfers despite not being a CL club and they are able to get top dollar for their players because they're never desperate to sell. Lewis doesn't spunk money like Roman or Mansour but he does put his hand in his pocket. We just don't hear about it as he's not desperate for attention.
re the OP. If where were aiming to be is to be where spurs are at, my jaesus how far we've fallen Why don't we clear out the auld trophy cabinet and flirt with relegation and employ a manager that has a dog run his finances while we're at it.
I think if we make it back into the top 4 we'll still be aiming higher. When we were in the top 4 we certainly did, challenging for the title and consistently making later stages and finals in Europe and domestic competitions and I think this is what we would be expecting again if we can make it back. This is the difference in mentality I was pointing out earlier (which pissed off one spurs fan). We always regarded finishing in the top 4 as a minimum requirement (until 2010) where as for spurs it is their goal.
2 NOs to start with. No he couldn't and NO he won't.. Not having the same advantages as City in obtaining a stadium at a discount price (it appears that even WHU are not going to do that!) AND having to absorb the majority of the costs themselves (as Spurs economic profile is still relatively low - hence naming rights will not make the same level of return as for other clubs) then the supporters are going to have to dig deep and for a long time merely to pay for the stadium.
I didn't mate, I know an arsehole when I see one. I made the same comment twice and justified it twice - your response started the abuse. So if your not able to understand that then I can't put in what God left out!
Sorry Dave, I know you think you're the authority on everything but you're talking out of your arse on this one. I know Tavistock and ENIC pretty well and, as I said, you're talking out of your arse.
