We played ManU first game of the season when they had a new manager and tons of injuries and a ton of pressure .They beat themselves imo. If we beat Arsenal it will be because we are better on the day , and them having 8 injuries aint going to hurt but they arent under the pressure Man U were valley ... try to keep up .

Only just seen this post,so apologies for lack of response.

My "sour taste" still exists, but it wasn't caused by Monk,or his accession to the throne.
It was caused by the shabby treatment meted out to Laudrup by Jenkins.
The fact that the Club subsequently had to pay him a substantial sum, would appear to vindicate my opinion.

Contrary to popular belief,I have no beef with Monk, and wish him well.

As for "snidey posts",well, most of those emanate from the Monk sycophants who simply deplore Laudrup, and have closed their minds to his achievements.
The irony is that the man they now worship hasn't achieved a single thing.
The early exit from the League Cup, means that Monk will have to finish in the top half of the table, AND win the FA Cup, to better Laudrup's achievements.
Good luck wishing/hoping for that.

"It's like, give the guy a chance". Not sure I understand what you are inferring here. I'm not standing in his way. Jenkins has given him his chance, nothing to do with me.

"Also, don't presume I don't accept that fans have opinions". I'm not sure what you are inferring here either. Where did I say that?

Who exactly are these posters who are waiting for Monk "to fail"?

The mere sight of the name Laudrup is anathema to some, too many, people who frequent this Forum.
Only they know where their level of hatred and antipathy comes from.
I think it's a football related thing, and doesn't seem to infect the follower's of other main line sports.
They will turn on Monk eventually, since that is how they operate.
The negativity and bitterness that still gravitates towards Martinez,Rodgers, and to a lesser extent,Sousa,is proof of that.

The Monk/Laudrup debate will continue to rage as long as people breathe and post here, and it will invariably be started by Monk followers, sniping at Laudrup.

They can't help themselves, for jealousy is such a captivating attraction for them.

I suppose that’s one way of looking at one of the Swans greatest ever wins. No one wants to play Man U away on the opening day of the season but that was the task put in front of the Club this year. Man U had come into the match on the back of 5 pre-season wins against major European Clubs:

23 July Los Angeles Galaxy 0-7 Man Utd
26 July Man Utd 3-2 Roma
29 July Inter Milan 0-0 (3-5 pens) Man Utd
2 August Man Utd 3-1 Real Madrid
4 August Manchester United 3-1 Liverpool

Although they had a new manager, Van Gaal was widely experienced with an impressive European CV, while the Swans had rookie Garry Monk in charge.

It may not have been the strongest Man United team ever, but on paper they certainly seemed to have enough firepower to see off the Swans who had never had a League victory at Old Trafford. If you have a look at the match report, take a look at the bench for each team. While Man U had seasoned internationals mixed with academy players, we had Tiendalli, Josh Sheehan, Kyle Bartley and Jazz Richards on the bench – hardly first team regulars, along with the untried Montero and Gomis

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28718345

Man U had enough in the bank to beat us that day, but they were outmanouvered by the Swans to inflict a first home defeat on the opening day of the season for Man U since 1972.

If you want to say that “Man U beat themselves” that is fine, but most reasoned Swans fans will not only find deep joy in that victory, but also understand what a great performance it was from our players and coaching staff on the day.

We beat United fair & square, with 2 cracking goals from 2 cracking moves, quick thinking from our Wilf certainly helped for the 2nd!! Swans at their best...

As one not to favourable to Man U too, it's was 'doubly' rewarding...

"It was a great win , but we weren't great..."

You're right, we didn't have 65% possession & play the 'Swansea Way'!!

We beat Manchester United at Old Trafford for the 1st time ever in the league, under a manager who hasn't the experience....

You wonder why this board seems to be the way it is...
