that is my verdict on our transfer window.

Here we are on the 31 of January with the transfer window now slammed shut with 3 additions including Alfred N'Diaye n Kader Mangane whilst lowering the overal total of our squad with a few players leaving including Ahmed Elmohamady back to Hull City and Frazier Campbell to Cardiff.

I am quite puzzled really, leading up to January MoN spoke about being concerned with how small our squad was and now he has made it even smaller and as for the incoming deals I am really pleased with the Alfie signing, don't have a clue about Mangane as I have not seen him and don't think Graham is good enough to make much of a contribution to us and in 12-18months time will be part of the deadwood we want rid of.

MoN has gambled abit but we will only know if it was the right thing to do come the end of the season.

I certainly know something, MoN is going to be a very busy man come the summer, he has got to be if he really wants to get us up there around the 7th-10th placed spots.

I think that this has been a decent window which will improve us...Only time will tell who is correct..

You're right that the signings don't match the stated intentions. But we've got a little more quality in and reduced the wage bill of players who were never going to contribute to the first team squad. We are about 6 or 7 points from safety and I think they've decided to bed down and plan for the summer.

Short term perhaps disappointing, but I don't think you can really say until after the summer transfer window.

agreed, thats what I was trying to say in the last 3 or 4 lines.

the summer is massive for us, it is make or break

our current squad has a lot of players that are not good enough, we cannot keep having these daft performances, blackburn away last season, bolton home this season, the WBA performance and there just games I can think of on top of my head.

there is 6 or 7 players in our squad that need replacing and before that I seriously think we need a quality RB, CB and a creative CM.

Wouldn't be surprised if 7 or even 8 players arrive in the summer because its needed

Up to MoN to earn his money then and put the sort of squad together we all want and should have

On reflection our squad is good enough, player for player it is better then half of the teams in the league but performances and results are not.

Teams like West Brom who have been flying, do not have the quality players we possess. I can never put my finger on it though.

Mangane has come in on loan for the remainder of the season and apparently needs to work in his fitness. N'daiye doesn't look anywhere near ready for playing in the premier league IMO. Danny Graham is an average premier league striker (which ain't a bad thing) sold by a club who were trying to replace him with Kenwyne Jones.

We have let 3 strikers leave and brought 1 in. Not the best transfer window by any stretch of the imagination however we look safe enough for this season and the summer will bring more recruits.

Yes they were flying, but we've been poor and we're only 5 points behind. Think we've a good chance finishing above them.

We have nothing to play for though. Big signings can wait until the summer, for now it's about getting what's needed to finish around mid table, and in my eyes we've done that.

    slowly slowly catchy monkey

mon is one of the best managers in world football, we are very lucky to have him and a sunderland supporter to boot.

everything he does for us is part of his masterplan, everybody knows how wealthy ellis is, its not about throwing money about.

this is the long haul imho, little steps mean greater strides (you can tell i'm a gaffer cliche to ****)

anyway, in my lifetime i have never felt so much optomism about my beloved club, its gonna take time but my god all these years of the norm will be worth it!

    small time mentality

with the money coming into the league and every spot worth more money we need to finish as high as we can

we are not really and attractive club there are at least 9 or 10 clubs that are more appealing to players than us and to attract better players we need to be higher up the league, if we are just prepared for a boring old mid table finish every season we will be like Boro when they were in the premier league, surely there has to be ambition there.

I aint to bothered that we have not brought in any big money signings because if those players are not available until the summer then fair enough, I'm more puzzled he let players go without replacing them, even if was a couple of players coming in to get us through to the end of the season.

not calling MoN he is the man for us and is a good manager but certainly not one of the best in the world, the way we have played this season shows that, not a dig but at times tactics and subs have been puzzling

    Benitez
    AVB
    Wenger
    Moyes
    Martinez
    Laudrupp
    Mourinho
    Guardiola
    Capello
    Ancelotti
    Hiddink
