If Harry was able and willing to sell us Bassong and Pavlyuchenko in January, would that be enough? Would Tony et al stump up the cash? Would it be enough?
I'd take Bassong but i'm not sure about Pav,i would prefer a small, quick predator to feed off Bothroyd or Helgy!
I would like a CB and if such a thing exists a utility back with pace. Bassong or Ridgewell would do fine as CB. Another midfielder but all the ones that come to mind certainly won't be available in January. Plus a quality striker - not sure if Pav fits the bill for this. I think we are certain to get 2 - CB and striker - minimum. After the second half yesterday Neil needs to decide how he wants to play and get the personnel to fit, rather than get whoever is available.
Perhaps it is unfair to ask the question after playing such a high quality team as Spurs? Let's see how we get on at Norwich and home to West Brom. Possibly more realistic mirrors of our own ability.
Warnock already knows who he would like to bring in,he's been talking with Tony about it.Whether Tony is willing to give him enough money for them is one thing, them being available to buy is another. What ever happens i expect 3-4 more players to come in and join the revolution.
Agree Hammer. Fernandes knows what kind of money is needed to ensure the Rs have what it takes to fly alongside Airs Asia and Malaysia.
I was thinking on similar lines before yesterday and not necessarily looking for straight into first team players, but reliable squad members. And I agree, there will be a plan for the next window rather than a mad rush. Should be fun!
I wonder if that's why Warnock had such a love-in, with Harry & their performance. Me thinks it could be a major raid on Spuds cast offs in Jan.
Anybody know of a decent fullback that can play with both feet. I'm not talking about a world beater or anything just a solid Young type player. Think we need cover at fullback, a CB (Bassong would be nice) a speedy winger (prob not available in Jan) and an experienced stricker. Not sure who we can pick up as most clubs dont like selling in Jan. Think we prob need to get rid of several fringe players to make room for incomers as well.
999 - they do seem very friendly, bigging each other up for the England job, arms around shoulder, big smiles. Spurs raid a definite maybe!
if Harry's feeling generous, I reckon I could just about find a space in the 25 man squad for Defeo, Bassong, Bale and Modric or VDV. I just wonder who he's want in part exchange?
What does anyone here think of Junior Hoilett at Blackburn? Got pace, could ply on the wing and prob won't cost an arm and a leg? Just a thought. Also, could maybe get that Oxlade-Chamberlain off Arsenal on loan, from the limited appearances he's made, looks quality for the future
