Your memory has failed you again. The socialist state was hailed as a good example not only by the leaders of the Labour Party but also some on here. Of course they backtracked when it turned out to be a disaster.

There is no country in the World which has ever called itself Communist SH. Even the USSR did not use this to describe itself. Communism describes a country which has decentralized to such an extent that the state has withered away and the rule is on the basis of a voluntary association of communes - as the name would suggest.

Nope - no dates are set - unlike General Elections. A government can call a referendum when it likes. Nobody said the 2016 one was the end of the matter. In fact Farage said if he lost 52-48 he would want another one and just in case you did not know the legal position is that the referendum was advisory.

As you seemingly have a better memory than me you will be able to name some of the posters who hailed the project as a success.

The question of success is relative Frenchie. Nearly all states which called themselves Socialist inherited countries which had never known democracy as such - Cuba was an American brothel before the revolution, the USSR a totalitarian Tzarist state, or we are referring to states which were previously third World ones, or where the Americans purely wanted to drain the country of all its resources. Or, Socialist states took over from Fascist ones. In all cases they were an improvement on what had preceded them, and that is what matters.

Nope - Cameron said a leave vote meant leave, in fact he promised to invoke article 50 in a few days until he resigned. The legal government said the result would be treated as government policy, surely you remember that?

No government can be held to a policy that has been made by a previous government is fact. Since the referendum there has been a general election which failed to endorse the Tory manifesto. We now have a hung parliament as a result, so it is now up to the politicians to find a way through, or call another election or go back to the people. The options are there, but will the government put the country first instead of trying to cling to power a little longer?

I have no need to be embarassed SH. As I stated in my last post all states which became really Socialist were an improvement on what had preceded them, at least for the bulk of the population.

The government of the day has rightly respected the referendum result and comments made by the previous PM. The government has rightly ruled out another referendum.

I remember a lot of false promises on both sides - don't you? But we are not talking about politicians and their lies but the legal issue.
Legally the referendum was advisory - I trust Cameron and May as much as BoJo, Davis, Farage, Fox and many others.
Out can mean Norway, No date for Article 50 was set. No second referendum was promised or denied. At any time a government can do a u-turn (as a Tory you must remember a lot of them).
Why are you so fearful? A second referendum gives the people you value so highly a chance to explain further their dream of brexit.
Or is the truth you will accept a bad brexit at any cost to the UK?

Please do - because I think it is your failing memory. I know of only one poster on this board with detailed views on Venezuela and those views were not favourable.

If you remember there was quite a heated debate which I stayed out of. You can look back if you like my time is too valuable.

Legally the government of the day had the choice to make the result government policy which it duly did. It clearly indicated before the referendum its intentions and subsequently carried these out. The present government is just following this policy.

Two impact assessments have been published today from Kent County Council and Dover District Council. Both see the county gridlocked. The operation Stack as it was known had thirty mile tailbacks when there were problems of any sort in the port. The new arrangement is called Brock, which the councils say stands for Brexit Operations Across Kent. This arrangement is likely to be in place for at least five years, and according to the evidence they have gathered will be a permanent feature of daily life. There is a planning application in process to build a lorry park, but that will not be discussed until next year. The Tory, or is he still suspended, MP Charlie Elphicke, and vocal supporter of Brexit has turned on the government for not doing anything for two years. He told his electors that nothing would change, along with one or two others, but is clearly now fearful of losing his seat.

Actually I don't remember much about any real debate on Venezuala - honestly, I know that the capital is called Caracas and that they have never been in the World Cup, but that isn't enough for a debate. It may have covered other so called Socialist states but my only contact to the country was that I knew a Venezualan girl in Hamburg and if she was representative of the rest then wow !
