The UK is near the EU average for tax take compared to GDP.

So why is the UK unable to fund even basic services that others countries do? It sounds like bad management, but that has to be expected when so much control has been passed to foreign companies who are not in the country to provide for the population first and foremost.

  3. I don't necessarily agree with that but have always thought if you reduced some rates it might incentivise people to pay the lot rather than finding loopholes to pay less. And I'm not really criticising people who do that as I'm sure I'd be tempted if I was in their position.

Your constant UK bashing is often not based on fact. The UK has already effectively addressed its
Ongoing borrowing levels, something many countries, including France are yet to address.

This has got nothing whatsoever about the question I asked. Let me ask again. If everything is going so well, why cannot the country afford to provide basic services for those that need them. Others do, why not the UK?

I agree sixth most prosperous country in the world.. So why oh why are the Tory govt laying waste our public services? We know Thatcher didn't care for society but Cameron and May both trumpeted that they did..
The higher earners do not need the tax breaks.

I have already given you a reason why the Tories responsible actions over the UKs borrowing requirements has effectively reduced the amount normally available. The treasury has now indicated the previous fiscal measures now allows the purse strings to be loosened. Macron has not yet summoned the courage to even start to reduce France's ever increasing and huge debt mountain.

So what measures are going through to restore the services that have been cut now that this money is available?

No, I'm quite happy to pay what both Tory and Labour governments have deemed to be about right. Without encouraging entrepreneurs the final tax take would be considerably less.

Surely such allowances should be for start ups not those who are at an end stage in their careers?

No they are hopefully designed to encourage long term investment and job creation. I would change it to a tapered system to avoid short term financial shenanigans by spivs. It is solely for workers who hold at least 5% shares in a company on a sale of those shares.

Obviously they should be funded to provide the maximum facilities within a sensible fiscal policy that does not create massive debts to leave to future generations.

Borrowing is easy, repaying debt is much harder.

The policies of the Tory party have seen the biggest erosion in these services ever......

State asset stripping to fund tax breaks eh??

Our society will become a poorer and more divided one as a direct result.....

So SH you support funding for all of these services then???

I did add you implied that without borrowing they could be funded?
But your party took the funding away...
So you support the refunding of these services without borrowing then???

The three main international credit rating agencies have rubbished Macron's warning that the UK's credit rating would be downgraded if the ransom was withheld. The non payment could be subject to International court battles but these could take years. I expect part of it is justified for payment but the majority is for negotiation. We need a good horse trader, keep the civil servants well away.
