Chelsea and Manchester United Fans Branded 'Ugliest' in Country, According to Survey

Manchester United and Chelsea have the "ugliest" fans in the Premier League, the Mirror report.

While it's not entirely clear how they're defined as ugly given there aren't any fans to look at, in the survey conducted by Match.com, what is clear is the fact that only 9% of the more than 1,000 Premier League fans quizzed would actually consider dating a Manchester United supporter.

In all honesty, I'm thinking the Mirror have told a few 'porkies' here with their spin on the story, as the far more logical explanation is that people who don't actually support two of the Premier League's most successful clubs because they're so successful. That's considering this is just going by which football team people support and on the opposing hand, dislike.

This isn't Tinder. It's not swipe right on the ugly duckling who supports Chelsea and the stonking blonde who hails from the south coast.

There's a reason to that south coast bit, as 58% and 57% of the surveyed respectively said they'd be happy to date someone who supported either Bournemouth or Southampton. It comes as no surprise that only one in four Liverpool and Everton supporters surveyed would date someone who supported the Merseyside rival.

15% of Newcastle fans wouldn't go near a supporter of rivals Sunderland, while 22% of Spurs fans wouldn't want to date someone who followed Arsenal. The same number applies to what City fans think of United supporters.

Additionally, 13% of fans said they wouldn't date someone who supported a rival club, while 11% of people questioned would commit the cardinal sin of switching who they support in order to keep their partner happy.

While the findings of the survey may have been a little twisted (you pesky Mirror people), relationship expert Kate Taylor, who works for Match.com, said: "Football might be the beautiful game, but emotions can run high in sport.

"As we already know, couples with shared interests last longest, so when searching potential dates on Match mobile, it's quite likely that fellow supporters will tickle your fancy.

"If you do accidentally fall for a rival fan you'll both have to exercise tact during football season.

"No taunts when your team wins, no sulking when theirs does - and never ask your partner to swap teams for you, or you're sure to find yourself being substituted."
