So Steven Whittaker travelled all the way to Switzerland to appeal his red card, wasn't even allowed to speak and the ban upheld because he was sent off playing for Scotland a year ago!?! McCoist said "If UEFA are going to hand out prizes for the most pointless exercise of the year then we have to win it hands down for sending Whitts to that appeal in Switzerland. "He wasn't asked a single question which is quite extraordinary given the trouble he went to just to be there in person. "But, yes, it all seems quite astonishing." A UEFA spokesman added "It is not normal procedure for every case but it is a procedure which has been used before in some cases. "It's part of the disciplinary history and it can be taken into consideration if a player is red-carded twice in a certain period of time." Whittaker has been off the boil recently, so i'm not that bothered with him sitting out Thursday night but why have him travel all the way there and not even ask him anything.
They really are useless. I hope Rangers will be getting compensated by UEFA for having him travel over. I know it won't be much in the grand scheme of things, but I would want it back on principle.
Agreed. I'd rather have Broadfoot at right back than Whittaker, although the last 2 games Broadfoot has tried to dribble his way out of bother as well
I agree, though both have been poor so far this season. Where is the Kirk from yesteryear, skinning the Man Utd team and running rings round McGeady?
he's ****e. he always has been and always will be. hopefully McMillan will get another chance to prove himself at RB
Well you lot wasted UEFA's time with the pointless appeal it was never going to be changed so they waste your time it seems fair to me.
What was the basis of the appeal anyway? Appealing to UEFA is generally a waste of time - unless you're a 'big team' from one of the 'big' leagues
So appealing a 3 match ban for throwing a football is a waste of time? I take it you will be saying the same when your team are appealing for a harsh decision to be overturned.
He threw a ball at an opposition player - Violent Conduct. A 3 match ban seems perfectly fair to me and UEFA. As I said what goes around comes around. It was not long ago that Bougherra, Joof and McMoist left Hampden laughing and smiling because they had been dealt with extremely leniently by the beaks at the SFA, were you complaining then?
