Thought I'd take a trip up to see the u18s this morning. A 0-2 defeat. The first thing that struck me was how big the Coventry players were. I'm not short at just over 6' but they were giants. At least 4 of them must have been 6'4'' plus. It was a fairly drab first half with our youngsters starting brightly in opening stages with Sincere Hall coming close with a good effort which dropped just over the bar. He had another good effort deflected over for a corner a little later in the half. Coventry soon territorial advantage and had bulk of possession without carving out any clear opportunities for the first 20-25 minutes. One shot from their left was sent across the face of the goal but Tom McCauley appeared to have it covered. That was the closest they came until stabbing the ball home from a melee in our box following a corner. Prior to that the young Tigers had defended well and protected the keeper effectively, with Alfie Taylor showing why he has been getting good reviews in the U23s. He also looks comfortable on the ball and strode forward imperiously when offered the opportunity,. A left sided central defender increasinly resembling Jacob Greaves. He's one to keep an eye on. Coventry started the second half with more vigor and purpose producing some impressive moves down the right hand side particularly. Their second goal was a beautifully crafter affair involving some neat passing across their front line right to left before a smart finish gave them a 2-0 advantage. Final score 0-2. It was easy to see why Taylor and Hall have graduated to the u23s. Sincere isn't the biggest lad and had a lone furrow to plough this morning. He has two good feet and is very quick. He had little support or service today but still had two efforts on goal from half chances. I like his attitude. He rarely wastes the ball and on one occasion in the first half he misplaces a pass from about 10 yards in the opponents half. This resulted in a fast Coventry attack, and he pursued his opponent to help his own defence out on our goal line. He's got a bit about him, has Sincere.
