Hello, I’m Barney Chuckles. You may remember me from threads such as ‘AP and JP – Are they married now???’ and the longest in forum history, ‘Who’s your favourite Royal???’. Hope everyone well and extremely, and I do mean extremely, tickety-boo. Good, good. Well we moved to Wales, at the backend of May. Of course here, unlike dear old Wiltshire, you have no Beckhampton, Manton or even a Barbury Castle but I understand there may be one or two animals nearby who might, with a modicum of luck, scrape a Flat perching of 45 if all goes well! Fingers crossed, people. But, enough of my ramblings, the big question must be are you sinners still picking all the winners?!? And the subsidiary how’s everyone’s moles, insiders and contacts (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more…)?!? Splendid. Talking of moles, insiders and contacts I was actually reminded of this forum during last night’s ‘Corrie’ as, believe it or not, it featured an ‘I’ve been told…’! It actually resembled more of an episode of the ‘Daily Thread’ than ‘The Street’ as old boy Ryan was tipped a horse by his cabbie (whose brother is a jockey). And, of course, said beast lost and Ryan forfeited £2,000. Good luck to anyone wagering today or as I now say, pob lwc.
While I’m on how did everyone fare wagering on the big non-horsey event of the summer??? Wasn’t it exciting to watch our young heroes do us so, so, so proud on foreign soil. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one whose chest swelled with pride, whilst viewing, and I regularly exclaimed, ‘Make Her Majesty proud’ and ‘#proudtobeBritish’. Really brightened up the Summer and was great to watch. Yes, troops, undoubtedly it was another great series of ‘Love Island’. Re the horsey punting. Was fab to finally see Iniesta (Found’s brother) get his head in front for the Blake barn. Albeit it at a much, much, much lower level than his famous sis. And that was probably the punting highlight for me over the summer. On that stable, incidentally, I’m still waiting for Broadway Dreams to make his handicap hurdling bow (off 100)…in fact I’ve been waiting since last December. Still, as they say, everything comes to he who waits…what, what, what, what, what, what, what?!?
I'm backing cricklewood green first at salisbury today good apprentice onboard with Becky Smith currently 11/4 GL if you play
Welcome back, Barney. Your post reminded me of my first girlfriend's adaptation of Violet Fane's (not very) famous poem: 'Ah, all things come to those who wait', I tell my boyfriend's flaccid dick; Conclusion of a drunken date - They come, but often come too quick.
Pasta with a vegetarian sauce, small side salad, glass of pink grapefruit juice. Very underwhelming. 4/10. How are the carrots at the new coalface Sir Barney?
I must say that’s one of the major differences here - the new canteen. I know it upset a few when I used to say how heavily subscribed by the taxpayers the one at the coalface was (sorry but it bloomin’ well was) but here the portions are much smaller, blander and to be frank a bit lacking by comparison. No ‘Beef Stew and Dumplings’ on a Tuesday anymore (regular readers hide your disappointment stoically) but there is ‘fish on Friday’ so it’s not all bad. Stilton Ploughman’s. 6/10. Meanwhile, I see that one of the forum’s favourite horses has changed yards - The Last Samuri moving from Kim Bailey to Harry Fry (remains in the same ownership). Fascinating to see how this works out for the old boy as I always said it was my firm belief that he could, in his pomp, have been a CGC contender if with the likes of The Lieutenant or Mr Nicholls. Has slipped to a mark of 157 and you can get 50’s re the 2019 GN.
Feels a bit like last chance saloon with The Last Samurai, although I'm not sure whether Harry Fry is the one to eke out a stone of improvement at his advanced stage in life. First stop the Becher Chase?
But if he won it or even ran well in it wouldn’t that scupper any GN bid (rise in the weights and all that)??? I’d never suggest anyone in racing would be capable of even the merest hint of deceit but a few ‘gentle’ runs for the old boy, prior to the weights being released next Feb, would do his perch the world of good. 150 or less could potentially see a lovely impost come tapes up for the 2019 GN.
Ah I see. Being such a noble-minded purist I had never thought of that. Then perhaps the Badger Ales Trophy (hold him out the back and get outpaced half a mile from home) and then a spin round Kempton in the King George (trip far too short) and then maybe a spin round Newbury in the Denman Chase
hi fellas! listowel,2 05: quite a few unexposed types here, but the best treated horse may well be SHOW AND GO,who is far better handicapped over hurdles, and he won a valuable chase 2 starts back at galway.so,big shout..
worcester,2 50: a tricky contest.one for billy and dear sire are in very good form at present, whereas the two debutants caid du lin and equus amadeus deserve deep respect,on what theyve achieved over hurdles, but i go with the tough and honest GUSTAVE MAHLER here.he may lack the unexposed profile of some of his rivals, but on the plus side, has a wealth of experience over fences, and should run his race again today..deserves to get his head in front again after several near-misses..
well, not easy today.. listowel,3 40 VENEER OF CHARM is surely the class act here.has to give weight away all around, but not for nothing,as this years fred winter hero had been highly tried after his fine effort at cheltenham.so,if all is well today, should have a massive chance here..
worcester,4 25: KIRUNA PEAK is surely no world-beater,but i dont think, she has to be to win this affair.is quite consistent in the whole, and her latest third was a solid effort, and the 4th has since franked the form with a good win next time out.so,definitely one of the likelier ones here..
Sunday in the park must go in the tracker after that display, if not fallen then would of hosed up. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
most definitely, yes. listowel,4 45: POKER PARTY might have to find a few pounds with some of these, regarding hurdling form, but thats not impossible,as he had a good season in handicaps, and his yard is in great form,so surely not discounted here..e w player..
