He should be aiming higher than that surely? I thought a club like Posh if they don't get Liam Hearn. And interestingly no mention of a fee....

Clubs don't do fees these days. Every single transfer in the window has been "Undisclosed". BBC say £800,000.

I'm really concerned that we aren't in for a striker. I thought on Friday night that if we were playing Crawley and Tubbs were to score, it MIGHT make us interested in him. Apparently not. I've said this on numerous threads, you're probably sick of reading it by now, but it's really bugging me that we haven't gone in for a real goal threat. I know MF can score goals, but he hasn't looked the same player for weeks and our scorelines have reflected this. If I was AP I'd be ringing Barmby tonight and asking "Are you sure you don't need a striker? Because we have a bit of cash available."

Are there players available that will improve on what we have up front? Yup. Are they available for the money we have? You betcha. If Barmby is 'happy with what we have', then I hope he has a way of getting us goals, because if he doesn't we aren't going to remain in the promotion race. You look at our rivals and what they have/who they have bought. Jutkiewicz, Sharp, Lambert, Roberts, Le Fondre, Phillips, King, Baldock, Cole... all are players that would get into our side with no effort at all. Brighton have just signed Vokes because they are lacking goals. Would Fryatt or McLean get into Southampton's side? Or West Ham's? Doubtful.

Please Nick, just look into buying a striker so we have a bit of support. Somebody who isn't low on confidence. Somebody on another thread mentioned Lovenkrands at Newcastle. If he wasn't injured, he'd be perfect, but those are the kind of players we should be looking at. I could name ten players right now that could go up front for us and score goals. And thats from a scouting perspective. Not a fans. I'll agree that Billy Sharp, while a decent player, was out of our price range. Come on, we need one good goalscorer and we can really compete. If we miss out, these 1-0 wins won't last forever and we would be in danger of falling away. And that would be a damn shame, because the other parts of the team have put real shifts in and I wouldn't want to see it go to waste.

It's looking like our socks will be firmly on our feet.

We could easily have got him. Definitley worth a punt at 800k. What is Barmby playing at. We need a goalscorer and we have just missed out on two of the hottest ones (Sharp and Tubbs).

I'm suprised to see him leave Crawley giving how they're probably gonna be in League 1 next season.

to be honest sharp is over priced at 3m and tubbs will do ok on a week in week out basis in lg1 but at championship personally I dint think he will cut it. Think he had 19 goal this season and will do ok at bournmouth. To be honest I'm struggling to think of any quality strikers we could go for at the level we need
