They cannot take him to court until he is no longer a president. Trump is very rich, there are few things money cannot take care off. Democrats need to have majority in both houses to stand a chance of impeaching him.

I am willing to bet the waiting game will be played such that the moment the midterms are over then the Manafort case will explode and trump Jr will be arrested from the resulting info. If Trump thinks he can just pardon anyone then there will be a constitutional crisis in the USA.
