Isn't it funny that only once in a while will the rumour mills get something right? and we never believe them. It is looking like the rumours were true regarding the swap transfer of Anderson, who remember Sean sold to us when manager at Forest, for Jay E Thomas (JET) which is a complete surprise as I didn't think we had a cat in hells chance of getting him. There is obviously something about our manager that inspires players to want to play for him and to return to play for him after they have gone elsewhere. Squad as it will be after this latest transfer GK: Frank Fielding GK: Dylan Castanheira ---------------------------------- RB: Brendan Moloney RCB: Aden Flint RCB: Louis Carey RCB: James Wilson LCB: Liam Fontaine LCB: Derrick Williams LCB: Lewin Nyatanga LB: Greg Cunningham ------------------------------------- DM: Marvin Elliot DM: Jordan Wynter CM: Neil Kilkenny CM: Liam Kelly CM: Bobby Reid CM: Stephen Pearson LM: Jay Emmanuel Thomas, but can play across the midfield or as a striker LM: Joe Bryan RM: Albert Adomah RM: Toby Ajala ------------------------------------- ST: Sam Baldock ST: Steven Davies CF: Ryan Taylor F: Wes Burns F: Kevin Krans This squad is starting to look very good for the next season and unless people leave there are likely to only be one or two more signings including our back up goalkeeper. Now I had thought that we might be changing our playing system but that is going to depend on whether Albert stays or goes now I would think, as a 4-4-2 with the squad we will have early next week could scare the pants off of most opposition in L1 and would have been well capable of doing a job in the championship, such a pity Sean didn't join us when he was first interviewed. If we keep this squad then I will upgrade my prediction of just in the top 6 to getting promotion. My levels of optimism are rising all the time even though I know it can take time for players to gel this squad just looks so good. We could lose 5 players from this squad Nyatanga, Fontaine, Wilson, Pearson and Kilkenny, and both Wilson and Nyatanga are apparently in talks with other clubs, and it would not be weakened at all in fact the quality of the squad would go up without those players and that would really open things up for more youngsters to come to Bristol City with a realistic chance of first team football if they did leave. The only three players I think we might find it harder to replace would be Moloney, Cunningham and Adomah but I have every confidence that the replacements for any player at Ashton Gate are already planned with a list of players for each position already on Sean's desk.
sod has fantastic pulling power,I have said many many times a great match city and sod. If jet does arrive it will been down to sod and sod alone. The kid is class just needs the right teacher. Jet obviously likes sod and visa versa. One thing for sure that is a major signing for league 1, probably the biggest.
To lose Fontaine, someone would have to be daft enough to buy him- He didnt exactly put himself in he shop window last year
Now I thought that he did his impression of a tailors dummy anytime an opposition player went past him was superb you couldn't tell A real one from Fonts at times so much so I have to admit I am surprised Burtons haven't made a bid yet.
Well he did score once last season, wonder if Burtons will want Fontaine rather than Gary Johnson bearing his backside!
