Which are ironically made in France!! I was comparing Laura and the team to the GB football team yesterday. At the key moment Sturridge tried to be clever and missed his peno - can you imagine any of the cyclists having anything but 100% focus on what they need to acheive, same with the rowers for that matter. That wasn't a dig at Sturridge it was just that he was the one that highlighted it. These games have been brilliant for sport and team GB in particular, unfortunately as a result footballers generally come out of this looking pretty shallow.
The power he showed in that race makes you wonder if he could be back in 4 years? Suppose it would depend on him being willing to put his body through the mill for all that time. PS. What a delightful bubbly little girl Trotty is. Possibility for an early shout at Sports Personality of the year? She certainly has an abundance of personality!
Mo farrah brilliant as well, hope he wins the 5000 metres (he beat' the cube' also !) The 4 x 400 metres should be interesting.
Feel free to put money on it, but that prize is going nowhere other than to Bradley Wiggins...Forget the fact he won gold medal and became, only for a short time, the greatest Olympian we have, forget the fact that he's got his own Mod style and sports a set of sideburns, forget the fact that he ripped apart the rest of the field in his event. He became the first Brit to ever win Le Tour. During the Tour he slowed to try and help Hagen (his teammate) win the Stage. And in the very next stage instructed his team to slow down so that Cadel Evans (a rival and defending champion) could catch back up after a spectator had thrown pins onto the road and Evans got a puncture as he didn't want the actions of a spectator to affect the outcome of the tour! Wiggins is the only person in history to win the Paris-Nice, the Tour de Romandie, Critérium du Dauphiné and Tour de France in one single season and the only man to win the tour and an Olympic gold in the same year... Take a well earned bow son!
A 100 million time this - if Wiggo does not win SPOTY then there is seriously something wrong - I'll even vote this year (I'M normally a tight twat)
Nice write up. Doesn't alter the fact it's the great British public voting. And Cavendish won it last year which may make people think twice about WIggins. That soft get Murray will be getting the weepy vote. Jessica Ennis could take the female vote including a lot of men. Trotty is 100/1 so I'm having a little punt on her.
