Yes, my official diagnosis as I age is that I have 'degenerative disc disease'. I have a set of exercises I do prior to getting out of bed to stretch my back. As you age you find that you will suffer from 'dropsy' which is to do with hand/eye coordination - you will need two or three attempts to pick something up for instance whereas you think you have a tight grip you haven't. The worst is when you trip and find yourself on the floor before you can put your arms out to cushion your fall - it all seems to happen slow motion and is more annoying than anything else.
Be very careful in what you do, try acupuncture for the pain but do NOT try to 'work-it-off' to satisfy those who are doubting your honesty.

I have to have a 'carer' Safc, can't put my own shoes and socks on, can't wash below the knees and I need a 'kneeler' to do the few odd jobs around the place. Not pleasant growing old mate as you will find out one day and your 'snide' remarks will come back to haunt you.
Back injuries are excruciatingly painful and the trouble is that there are no outward signs of injuries so people think you are playing the old soldier. I've been through it, got over it with an operation and then worked 23 years for a Road Laying Gang shoveling asphalt every day. Strengthened my back up but it's not every-bodies cup of tea but I got lucky. Without the op I would have finished up in a wheelchair. It's a combination of having grown old and the (late) after effects of the operation that has caused my plight but, I'm still here and all my mates have gone so I guess I can count myself lucky to enjoy discussions like these with blokes like you through the magic of the internet. Have a great day mate.

    I'm glad I stayed up.

It wasn't a snide remark and I'm sorry you took it that way. It was supposed to a little joke and nothing else, I've got my own issues so in no position to laugh at anybody else.

    Have a good day <ok>

Not a worry Saf, enjoying our little contest on the Prediction league but early days yet. Can't see us doing any good against Liverpool away but you never know. Your reply is much appreciated.
