Another transfer window, another failing high street brand acquired instead of players. He is defo just trolling us now!
Am I the only one who thinks Mike Ashley is in for an almighty fall from grace? He's bought some absolute duffers from the High Street and is trying to take on the World's 2nd largest company. I went into an HMV store before Xmas, was looking for something specific but couldn't see it. So I turned to the assistant and said "excuse me, can you point me in the direction of your MP3 players or iPods please?". He looked at me as if I'd asked for a meat feast with extra anchovies. "Erm, We don't sell those". I said "this is a store whose primary purpose is to sell music, so just to be clear you don't sell either an mp3 player, mp3 music or any associated services?". "Nope". All he's effectively done so far is strip back these things so they can get close to breaking even, whilst signing a load of letters saying "sorry, we know HoF owes you £3m, but you're not getting it, so there." I just don't think it's going to work, I think the High Street needs a radical shift that someone as myopic as Ashley won't see. He'll have no choice but to sell the club at any cost, eventually.
But Fat Boy is **** hot when it comes to the High Street, wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't had the nod that the Government were going to give major tax breaks to help the High Street over tinternet
Agreed. Though he'll ultimately just listen to himself, he does like to consult his inner circle. Find it hard to believe nobody's warned him against plundering money into HoF and now HMV with no indication of changes to the market. Fatty's definitely a betting man, but he's not the betting man you see down Ladbrokes putting his last quid on a 40/1.
