I cant get my head around players coming or going after our window has shut. So for arguments sake, if we could find a player from a place where their window is still open. Could we sign them? If so then i makes a joke of the already ****e system.
This is something FIFA should sort out. It's bad enough that the window is still open when the season kicks off here. But the fact that it closes at a different time in different countries is making football management a nightmare.
I asked this (in a round about sort of way) yesterday mate - I can't work it out as, if the UAE league decide to come in and offer each of our players £100k+ per week and they all decide to leave and Sunderland end up with £250m from their sales - can we spend that or do we have to wait until January to spend money on a new team?? It does make an abo=solute joke of a terrible system and FIFA/UEFA/Whoever need to look into this as we have lost a player we cannot replace because transfer windows stay open for different lengths of time in different countries
As I understand it (but could well be wrong!) the transfer window rules and regs are developed per "international division" (eg UEFA set their rules, CAFCASS their own etc) as Gyan went from one system to another, so long as he abides by the receiving club's scheme he is OK to go. I was more confused when I heard about the "loan transfer window" a day or so ago but think it only applies to Championship and below. All we can get are free agents and even then I have no idea how the 25 man squad thing works - in terms of removing someone from it if we get a gem as a free agent (but that is probably desperately wishful thinking!) Happy days
Turkish clubs are part of UEFA, yet they bid for carlton cole after our window closed, or am I wrong ?
I think Turkey's window was open a few days longer than ours because of Ramadan. Like marcusblackcat says how can it be right that a middle east team can come in and in theory buy all our players and we can't replace them. It's completely mad. The Gyan thing demonstrates however why getting rid of the transfer window altogether would be bad. Teams would spend half their time fending off unwanted bids for players especially from rich teams with injury and suspension issues. So I think it should be changed so that we have transfers possible in say July and January across the whole world. That would be simple to understand and implement. My application for President of FIFAa is going in tomorrow!
