Chelsea are utilising Liverpool's summer transfer dealings to guide their approach ahead of entering talks with Manchester City over an audacious move for winger Raheem Sterling. The Blues want to recruit Sterling if Romelu Lukaku completes an early exit, but various factors suggest Man City will demand a hefty fee.
Read an article this morning on the echo that said there are "whispers" of Wijnaldum potentially coming back on loan for a season. They didn't give any source, or any evidence that he might be coming back or even suggest who might be whispering... So it's probably all bunk. That said, I'd absolutely take him back for one season on loan to steady the ship until we can get fresh blood in next summer. Seems a win-win for everyone since he's not done great at PSG. Even though the rumour is totally made up by the Echo, Klopp, if you're reading this, pick up the phone and dial Paris.
Not sure tbh. Not even for fact he left us. Or the fact that klopp doesn’t really do short term fixes (was really reluctant to buy a new CB during our crises season before last) but would question his motivation for the game now. Would think it would just be awkward to see a guy that left you thinking he was moving to better things and then coming back again. Eliott Jones Carvahlo need game time this season and with fab thisgo Hendo Keita Milner as experienced players, just don’t see room for another midfielder.
Well that is very much an assessment of where he got to as u23/cup player. Very slight, not much confidence and not much defending. In the fa cup he woke up after getting one move going and started to play so imo he needs that to man up a bit.
Yes, but I don't want to rely on them. Or have too much pressure on them. I was thinking Carvalho was more forward focused too... Although honestly don't know much about him besides the hype. Jones, I have my doubts about. I suspect he gets one more season here before he joins a midtable team. Fab and Thiago are solid, Hendo is beginning to show signs of aging, but nothing severe... Milner can't do 90 anymore and Keita is unpredictable in how well he will play. We really only have two midfielders that I would consider top level now. Maybe three if you consider Hendo. Considering there are four games against big six opposition following European games this season, means even before regular cup congestion starts we're guaranteed four games where we are playing tough games back to back in one week, we really need more than three reliable midfielders. It'll only get worse in second half of season (assuming we have a decent season)
Don’t necessarily disagree with that. But that means you think Gini is a top level midfielder? Given he barely played for psg and is 31… do you think he’s a better option than those already at club? Especislly when the club is focussed on long term planning and not short term
Thiago and Gini are in the same age group, we can get one more good year from GINI. The devil you know is better than the angel you don't know
Long term, if rumours are to be believed is Bellingham next summer, which is why signing someone would be a bad idea. We do have a massive gap at the moment until next summer. Do I know Wijnaldum can still cut the mustard? No, I don't. He flopped for PSG, he could potentially flop on return to us... After all, two years ago Henderson and Milner were still good too. He would be a low risk on a loan though
LFC have doubts about Bellingham in today’s press - mostly that we won’t be able to afford his price/salary. reality is that we need to buy before they go to a club like Dortmund. He’ll be me up at a doper club or in spain.
The second he went to dortmund he was on the agent track. He has been promised massive massive money imo on this 2/3 year trek over to Germany and then inro the mega club like sancho and haaland.
Yup. The agent got his though. And let's face it the player got 350k aweek at utd. So think about that..... not thought to winning stuff just the money.
It's an interesting kind of line now. These agents grab some kid and hype the **** out of them, making sure they go to a nice low level but keep the game going all the time in the press. Haaland from salzburg to dortmund. **** ton of injures but a goal a game in two weaker leagues Sancho snatched out of city and marketed like ****. Bellingham is now on the same track. It'll be interesting to see long term how each does cos its not like sancho has set the world alight. The agent though is making a killing and the click bait types really love us reading their bull.
