Getting Stearman in would've been good enough, but if we've also somehow managed to persuade someone to take Bodurov then it's been a great day!
Thanks SuperBri. That incoming list is quite impressive. Especially when considering that they were acquired for a very sustainable net profit of £1.66m. And just for the record, at the U21 level goalkeeper Andrew Dawber and defender Ian Pino Soler have also joined.
Call me a cynic but I have my doubts about these players saying how much they want to come to the club because who we were and what the club had done. More like because Fulham offered them a hefty signing on fee and better wages. So if they came on a free I'd say they probably got £1m+ upfront plus benefits.
Looks like the Bodurov deal didn't go through as he is still in squad whereas Taggart is put in loan dept on Official website
I think I'm right to say; O'Hara Cairney Pringle Ream Stearman were all player of the year at their respective clubs last season. No prizes for guessing our recruitment strategy. There really can be no excuses for anything less than a play-off finish this season.
Is there not a loan window that opens up some time soon? Perhaps we can still get rid of him during that. Maybe we could still even get that Gary Hooper deal done???
The "Emergency and Youth Loan" window opens on 9th September and closes on 26th November. Never really understood the definition of 'emergency' though - well certainly not since 'Arry and QPR took advantage of the system. If it's true that Hooper is on £32k per week and Norwich want a £500k loan fee, then no thanks. As it happens he's playing for their U21s tonight.
I'm not so sure that large signing on fees would have to of been paid to entice these players, they have all come from clubs where Fulham are probably seen as a small step up ( Blackburn and Bolton always going to struggle this season dye to money issues) and yes we are probably paying them more wages. I think the club have done brilliantly to overhaul and improve nearly the whole team making a net profit on fees and also I would suggest reducing the wage bill as well. 12 players in, if we are paying an average of 20k a week which is what I would guess that's £240k a week but the loss of wages from Ruiz, Hugo, Mitroglu, Stekelenburg, Amorebieta, Hoogland and Stafylidis prob more than off sets that.
Where it says we have 7 club players of the year, I'm assuming these aren't all 2014/15 awards or am I missing someone? I've got 5 above and add McCormack in as our poty, who is number 7?
Is the author Mike Rigg’s ‘spin doctor’? Just kidding, it’s a really good read and very well researched. Good point that this is fact Rigg’s first window when in charge. One observatioon though. And that is, Rigg was clearly working to a pre-defined budget strategy - no overspend on fees and a continuance of cutting the wage bill. Wouldn’t it have shown more ‘ambition’ if the owner had released the (up to) £13m possible under FFP?
Blimey, that blog has really made me smile. It's early days but the new players are all decent. it was a good window, slightly annoying about Dunk but I'd rather have players come to Fulham wanting to play for us. So is the playing philosophy a diamond formation? Just kidding everyone!
Looking good "yes" but before appointing themselves our chosen ones, apologies to JM, Rigg & Symonds must get results ,not later but now.
Having been sceptical, and with an expectation (realistic or otherwise) of spending more, reflecting on the window, the trading should allow the club to push forward. I suspect 1 or 2 might actually go OUT on loan during when the "emergency" period opens. Although it might take a while for things to gel, I'm looking forward to an increase in the points on-the-board. So COYW!!
