I have heard rumblings on PASOTI that Jim Paterson has been released by Shamrock Rovers and is a free agent. Now I have always been a fan of Jimbo who has always given his all for the club. Some say he was a sicknote and others think he was useless but none the less I would welcome him back as a potential player/coach (although he may have to take a pay cut!). Plays both LB and LM which is a position that needs strengthening. He and Baz had a good rapport going on last season and he would bring experience to the team. Any thoughts? If anyone also has info on incoming trialists and players they would like to share, perhaps post here?
Good to see Chadwick's signed a two year deal............If Purse has already signed before Christmas,or so we have been told.........why hasn't it been announced officially ?...........they didn't waste anytime announcing the moment Chadwick's deal was completed.
The clue for this thread is in the title plymborn........ I always thought Patterson was a decent enough player when he played. He was absent a bit so his appearances were less than would have been desirable. But, he is experienced and I think he would do well enough in this league so why not. He knows the club and some of the players and coming back has been proved to be ok for Chadwick. If he is cheap enough then fair enough to give him a go.
Transfer Gossip.........can go beyond Patterson I hope sensible...............Chadwick not part of the administration mess........Paterson surely was........anyrate to expensive I would think.
More PASOTI chatter suggests that Ryan Rowe is interested. Stourbridge forward who scored against us in the recent FA first round tie. Not too sure if he would cut it in league two though...Still maybe worth a shot.
He always stuck me as a versatile and steady performer and that was in higher leagues than we're in now so he could be a useful addition. Clearly though we can't afford to go back to the Bad Old Days with deadwood in the squad, either due to injury or under-performance. Maybe a "Pay As You Play" contract would be an option if he has nowhere else to go - I understand Michael Owen has something like that at Manchester United.
Last season Jimbo and Baz played well together, swapping roles on the left side of midfield. If he came back we could offer him a coaching role in the squad as I believe he has a couple of badges and is working on more. Still hopefully more to come...
Nathan Thompson a RB from Swindon has sparked Fletchers interest. This could be useful if Bignot stays. I think Bignot has been more confident in the centre of defence than he has on the right side so until Nelson recovers he could be useful cover. http://www.teamtalk.com/swindon-town/7413461/Thompson-set-for-loan-move
hobo...........I did notice that yesterday...........isn't he only 20yrs old..........I would have thought we would have enough youngsters around...........we need older more experienced players who can cut the pressure more easily.
I think in this era of football you need both young and old players at the back Plymborn. Speed is the thing a fullback needs as well as experience. I agree we need older players who are more experienced but, young players who can run with the ball are also important. Unfortunately most youngish players with experience (therefore covering both requirements) are snapped up at the beginning of the season. Still Thompson has interest from other clubs as well so he may decide not to join us anyway.
"until Nelson recovers".... I didn''t know that he was injured and wondered why he didn't play in the last game so that explains that one.
Possibility of signing Bojan Djordjic again.........could do well in this division..........if we can keep him on the straight and narrow.........and he doesnt disappear off the radar during match.
Chris Webb on PASOTI has confirmed the signing of Joe Lennox who was released recently from Bristol City. Another young winger, to replace Atkinson apparently.
