After all the excitement at the thought of all the comings and goings, transfer deadline day turned out to be something of a damp squib.

Since the beginning of the week we were led to believe that Samaras and Maloney were heading for the exit door and we would be signing two strikers, a left back and a centre back.

As it turned out, we've signed one striker and brought in a LB on loan. Maloney has gone to Wigan and we're stuck with Samaras till God knows when. Does anyone know when hell is due to freeze over?

Best made up story of the day must go to Craig Whyte and Rangers though. They turned down £9m from an anonymous bidder for Jelavic just a couple of hours before the deadline <laugh>

Sure you did Mr Whyte. Do you honestly think that the Gers fans wont notice how little you've spent despite all the vague promises? (or the fact that the Rangers squad is now smaller than it was last season.)

We have based our transfer dealings on 'what are rangers doing' for a 4th season

We had 2 concerns before Izzys injury that have not been addressed, CB and target man

    No position has been improved from last season { even with Kelvin, he has no natural partnership }

They have kept their best title winning players together

We have no winners, no leaders and no plan B

I'm going to go sulk in a car park

We're a team who play with wingers and full backs getting to the byline and put crosses in. Our tallest striker (exc. donkey) is Stokes at 5' 11".

The ONLY target man we had was Murphy and we put him out on loan.

Even the new LB is only 5' 9"

Is there a team out there who score less goals from corners than us?

****ing hell there's a lot of whinging going on here this morning. The transfer window could have been a lot worse but it could also have been better, I'm sure that's the opinion of most clubs fans this morning. Look on the bright side we could have had a window like Rangers.

Rangers have strengthened a title winning team

What position have we improved on?

We cant keep gambling on them having a bad season for us to win the league

Lets be honest the best bit of the window for Celtic and Rangers was not selling our better players!

Whilst i do not think Celtic are a great side we are stronger than last season when everyone is fit IMO

As for Rangers i dont know anything about any of their signings save for Wallace so i cant say if they are better or worse than last year

The title will be close again and the real key will be keeping our better players in January and maybe whoever makes that one/two clever deals then

    Who pissed on your cornflakes?

Have Rangers really strengthened from last year?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011–12_Rangers_F.C._season#Transfers

We are undoubtedly stronger imo, certainly at CB (Kelvin Wilson) and even in midfield (Wanyama strong back up) and up front (Bangura looks better than Murphy or Maloney from the little I've seen of him).

Peter Lawell, not quite a golden shower, it costs too much

Yeah, Bougherra out is strengthening, I assume their new midfield have ability

We got the same goalie, a new CB, a RB we didn't need

We equalled our clean sheet record last season...do you think we can do the same again? I don't

Wanyama in place of who? Our midfield has enough hard workers

Bangura, like for like with hooper im guessing.....not a priority over a target man imo

Our results against the backs to the wall teams will not look any different from last year

Commit fouls against us in middle of park and teams are safe..give away corners...still safe

This league will be decided on a flick of a coin....but rangers will get to pick the coin

We have a better centre half (wasn't hard) still no decent keeper and some more back up players, I'm quite pissed off about the whole thing! After 3 years of no title and a bonus each year for Lawwell despite falling revenues, attendance and reputation no action has been taken to rectify the situation.

We are being bleeded for watching Celtic getting mothballed. As for the people talking about have Rangers strenghened thats not the ****ing point!

Rangers haven't strengthened and I suspect Lawwell knew they wouldn't.

  13. Watching SSN last night was weird.

The guy was desperately trying to involve the SPL teams so he goes through the 20odd million Stoke have spent and the money QPR were trying to throw around.

Slides his wee graphic screen to the Scottish teams and announces "Rangers aren't selling Jelavic despite a late bid and Celtic have signed a LB on a 6 month loan".

I know we're not in the same financial stratosphere as the English teams but it seemed a taste of what is to come - depressing, man.

I would say that Rangers have strengthened. Bougherra was becoming a liability, and Weir has hopefully played his last game for the club. Replace them with Goian who looks solid, and Bocanegra, captain of a USA, a top 20 in the world team. Add Lee Wallace to the defence along with last seasons players. Also got Bartley back in on loan.

Midfield we have kept Davis and other decent players. Added Bedoya (yet to see) and Ortiz. Ness will hopefully get a run in the team without being injured, and that is the makings of a better midfield.

Up front we have kept Jelavic, Naismith and Lafferty. The 3 of them will get goals all season <ok>

To say Rangers are weaker than last season is ridiculous <ok>

I wouldnt say rangers are weaker than last year but they are certainly not stronger...

Celtic have brought in players without letting any go so I would say Celtic are in a better position "squad" wise.

No we have finally seen that all the talk about Allys "warchest" has been no more than Internet Gossip.

Rangers are no more better off in terms of team investment than when Murray was in charge.

    And Bougherra.

  19. And Wilde and Little for all McCoist would play them.

I know they're going out to get more first team experience but I reckon Rangers could do with them come the business end of the season...

To be fair, we did spend £2.2m on a striker the day before. If we'd signed him last night we'd probably be a bit more excited about it. In fact, when you include Wilson and Matthews, we've signed five new players plus got Forster back on loan.

And who have we lost that's made us weaker? Okay, Maloney was good for winning free kicks and penalties but it's hardly worth paying him 10k per week to do that on the rare occasion he's fit.

Overall, it's not been too bad. We were told tht Kayal, Izzy and Hooper were certs to be off but they're still there.
