City and Liverpool after him apparently. I'd be disappointed if he left, he was one of the bright spots of the season. Whoever put that release clause in his contract wants shooting. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/836222970?-11058:809:0
This speculation was bound to appear after last season. I hope he stays but totally understand if he wants to leave. I just hope his time at Spurs has taught him something. If he moves to Citeh he will ruin his career - along with many before him. Liverpool might be a more viable option for him out of the 'big' clubs. But even then he might have spells in and out of the team.
My thoughts exactly, if he stays, he will be pivotal to our season. If he leaves fir City and to a lesser extent Liverpool, he is but part and possibly chief bench warmer. However, it's still Premiere League versus The Championship. It's easy to say he should stay with us, we are a tad bit bias, but l hope he sees the potential of a season as a big fish and more attractive still the improvement as a player that will surely come being coach by Rafa and his team. Fingers crossed.
Couldn't ask for 2 better clubs to get into a bidding war. One sale could finance our promotion push if we play our cards right. But I'd rather he stayed as he's a real quality player.
If the figures are to be believed, we bought him for £12m, but his release clause is £10.5m. If that's the case, the hierarchy should be shot at dawn. Hopefully Rafa can persuade him to stay. I like him. I'd also be happy if Sissoko has another couple of decent games and knocks his price up by a good few million. The lazy sod.
I don't think he will go and bench warm at City or Liverpool. That is the one thing in our favour. He has that t-shirt. I think it will largely depend on who else comes in. If you get people in the Everton or Southampton bracket I think we might have a problem.
Exactly what I was thinking. Southampton will probably lose some players this summer (Mane for instance) and look to replace in the excellent way they do. He can go there and move back to near London (an hour or two from family if he's in Hampshire). I can't see him being here come September.
Unfortnately the release clause probably made the difference between him signing or not in the first place. I think he'll stay and give it a go with Rafa.
Doesn't everyone. That's what I get for trying to type whilst whizzing around on my mobility scooter, after a cider or two...
We have been here before chaps. Inthink he will stay. City? Well ask Sterling, rodwell et al how that went.
If you can find them under their piles of £50 notes. Money talks mate, unfortunately, and these bigger clubs have more of it than we do.
Down to whether he's happy to be playing or richer but a bench warmer. I agree with Backstabbers Baddy that if someone of the ilk of Southampton, Everton etc come for him then he will have a hard decision to make and then money combined with playing time in the PL may tilt the balance against us.
Liverpool not interested according to their local rag, however it does mention a "race" to sign Townsend. Can't see him off to any of the big teams as he couldn't get a game at Tottenham, and the likes of Burnley, Palace, Bournemouth etc won't be of interest as he isn't going to want the threat of relegation again, but Everton, Southampton and West Ham definitely may be interested and the "Rafa factor" would have to be very strong to stop him signing for a team that will be challenging for a top 6 place.
