Im not going to underestimate yeovil but i have a feeling everything will click and we will win 4-1. Murphs, tunni, hyam & didds.
Should be a home win although I know a Shef Wed supporter through work, who saw them at home to Yeovil at the weekend and he said Yeovil looked quite impressive albeit with a lack of quality in front of goal. I dont really want us to batter them as I quite like to see 1 or 2 of the smaller teams survive at this level but I think we should be capable of scoring a couple. 3-0 or 3-1 Town.
2-1 Town McG with both. I'm hoping for a bigger scoreline than that but I'm still predicting 2-1 every game until we get it.
You got it San Diego!!! On a seperate note, Carlos Edwards, discuss!! For me, he should never start as not good enough.
I wouldn't write Edwards off. He's still got the moves, but has looked tired of late. I thought the whole team were off the pace for the first half and only really picked up after the break, when Yeovil were tiring. Maybe Mick gave them the hairdryer treatment at half time! It never looked certain. Right up until the whistle I thought Yoyo would nick a point and they nearly did. Fair play to town though. They held on for a win. I thought Tunnicliffe was the best of the bunch. He was the only one who looked like he'd slept last night!!!
For me Edwards was our worst player 1st half but did improve 2nd, he did look of the pace at times. Tunnicliffe & Berra for me were our best players tonight, Cressy & Didsy also did well, but as Hawky says we were a bit of the pace tonight but a win is a win.!
Coming from behind to win two games running, that is quite some belief. Great stuff. I still rate Edwards as an option - we need more than four midfielders.
Thought we were poor in all honesty and Yeovil had a lot more ideas then we did but lacked a bit of quality to do anything with them. Edwards does nothing for me and hasnt for the last season or two. The previous couple of comments said that they rated Tunnicliffes perfromance but i thought he was poor aswell. For me they were probably the least two effective players in a poor performance. The main problem with them both for me is they dont give us attacking options. Neither looks likely to make a decisive run or put ball after ball into the box. We reverted to previous regimes tactics of hitting Murphy and hoping it drops to someone. We are getting the points so no big drama but I do wonder if we are ever going to play with a bit of swagger and style. We have Taylor on the bench who looked like a lively player when we first signed him but hasnt been seen and Wordsworth possibly could add just a bit of excitement. For me McGoldrick is the only player who looks capable of adding that little bit of class but this is often in a wide player and no-one else seems interested in getting into the box. 3 points at least and as long as we keep picking them up thats the main thing.
you are bloody right there Hampy, for the last 4 years we would have lost the last 2 games by heads going down but MM has given us a backbone and belief. Also the fans can take some credit for getting behind the boys when we do go behind, and not just start the booing. As for Edwards, he didn't have a summer off so i reckon it is catching up on him. needs to have a month off to regain some energy.
Good points Guru, The fans (whats left of us) really did want to support the team which isnt easy to do when the team is not having the best of things and the players, although (for me) lacking in 'spark' certainly gave their all. Its what we have come to expect from a Mick team. They never give in. For me, its a massive plus that the moans (from some of us anyway - and I do include myself) are about the style of our wins rather than about if we are going to win. Thats a massive step forward and fair play to MM, his team and the players for at installing a bit of belief that we can win.
I actually though we did ok last night. our main issue was in the final 3rd and the finishing. We often chose the wrong pass or under hit it, wanted an extra touch a couple of time instead of hitting the thing 1st time, Smith totally missed 2 free headers from corners...So all in all the margin could have been bigger, just one of those nights in front of goal.!
I find it entertaining that here we all are making lots of valid points...and we have just picked up 6 points! After being behind at that! What a different a year makes,eh? We were plunging into the darker doom and gloom a year ago. From what I heard on the radio...Millsy not a happy chap at all!... we do need urgently need a different combo on the Right. Midfield not sparking life yet, poor distribution? And do we/how do we off-load Nouble? Doesnt sound a good buy. Give Edwards a good rest..a proper break always does sportsmen a power of good. If he cant cut the mustard on return, then warm his bum on the bench if at all. I hope to make the Brighton game...by then we will be in top 10...or 6...joking!
We missed Anderson on the right side last night. Problem is MM does tend to play it safe, I would have gone with Tunnicliffe on the right last night & Tabb on the left, even when MM made the change he still kept faith in Edwards, who to be fair to him improved 2nd half. For me though he could have gone with the formation above when he made the change, we did get the result so ultimately MM was proved correct, although it took a good stop from Gerks at the end to keep them out.!
