Well Squillaci was performing for Seville, he looked like a decent buy to be honest. esp at £5m
Silvestre was under £1m I think.

Spending £20m on an underperforming player is a big gamble for us.

£175k a week, somehow I don't see Wenger doing that.

Whenever we get linked to a top players there's always a bunch of fans that cry 'overated'. Makes me laugh.

Torres is still a top player.

Could it be that something has happened in the Premier League ??

i mean .. Arshavin looks like the worst footballer I have seen at Arsenal. Torres looks like he doesn't know where the goal is. Chamakh doesn't look like a professional footballer. Strikeritis has struck !

Agree with Jayram about Wilshere - he certainly can play offensive football, he is a powerful attacking midfielder, committing players while he glides past them with that low centre of gravity.

Torres has lost his acceleration. Years of injuries has taken its toll. He was never the greatest technical player so it was a massive weapon in his game. People said Torres needed a player to give him quick passes and they found that man in Mata and Torres still did not bang them in. When did Torres last sustain any sort of form? It getting to the stage where you will have to start writing him off. He is also hanging on in the Spain squad by a thread.

In my opinion the perfect striker who would absouletely rip teams apart in that arsenal team ( apart from persie ) is Tevez, probably a no-chance situation for you guys due to his wages and city probably wouldn't sell but if i was a Arsenal fan/Arsenal Manager the one player who in my opinion would fit in perfectly at your team would be Tevez

No chance in hell Chelsea will sell Torres to their closest rival. No way Wenger will change formation to accommodate Torres AND RVP. No way Arsenal will pay Torres anything close to £175K per week. And no way Torres would agree to sit on the bench any more. So just forget about it.

Torres was a top player but he is just flat at the moment. He has all the potential in the world but until he gets the love for the game back he is not going to do anything. He always looks depressed and never like he is enjoying himself. That is the price that he paid for beng the most expensive player in the league. It is a gamble, whatever way you look at it, for Arsenal to buy him.

I personally don't see it happening though.

Sometimes it takes a change of scenery for a player to kickstart their careers again.

"Because of his poor displays on the pitch, one Italian publication renamed their award given to the worst performance of the week, L'asino della settimana ('Donkey of the Week') to Bergkamp della settimana. Internazionale ended the league season in sixth position and failed to retain the UEFA Cup, being eliminated in the second round. In February 1995, the club was purchased by Italian businessman and fan Massimo Moratti, who promised to invest heavily in the squad. Bergkamp's future in the first team remained uncertain following the signing of Maurizio Ganz a month after the takeover."

Form is temporary, Class is permanent.
