Be warned that if you work for such a company the employment laws will be relaxed enough that you can be sacked with no explanation.

If this goes through there will be mass public outcry because it is just a typical Tory move that allows the few to get rich and stay rich and hits the rest squarely in the bollocks.

Can they not see that this will not reduce unemployment and in fact I can see it raising it and that will mean more people claiming unemployment which will create more expense for the government. Unless, of course, they plan on making it even more hard to claim that too.

How? It does not encourage employers to train and coach employees to become better at their job. If someone is performing poorly employers will take the easy way out by sacking them instead of doing the sensible thing and offering additional training and support to help them get better. It is a known fact that employers who do offer training and support have a more loyal, happier and as a result a more productive workforce.

You do know this has not happened yet. What is worse is you cannot even see the long term benefits of this. If you do your job as you should, then you are ok even under these new proposals :)

If you buy a rabid pit bull would you be shocked if it bit you? Why has anything the Tories have done since getting back in to power been a surprise? It is what they do and is why they got voted in with a little help from their Liberal collaborators. Labour made a total ar*e of it and we all like a posh bloke in charge. You get what you deserve and we got Cameron. Maybe instead of protesting and going on strike we should actually bother turning out to vote in the next election. Or you could start a decades long campaign of bombing and murder. Works every time.

Ironically, if nobody voted it would cause a massive change in Parliament and everyone currently involved would have to no longer be a part of it..... A mass walk out would be better.

If someone is **** at their job the employer should have the right to get rid of them - as long as they employ a replacement. If they are making people redundant and are not going to immediately refill the role then compensation needs to be paid.

    It's not far-right stuff, it's common sense.

"A consultation on introducing "protected conversations" to allow employers to discuss an employee's poor performance or retirement in an open way that could not be used in a tribunal claim."

That's not open to abuse at all, is it? <doh>

Abuse works both ways: you can't tell me all those people who've taken their former employer to tribunals screaming racism, sexism, ageism, etc and won massive compensation are all genuine.

    If someone...
    • is crap at their job
    • habitually turns up late/hungover
    • is off sick long term with "depression" or whatever
    • doesn't come back to work after 6 months maternity leave
    • gets pregnant within a year of starting a new job
    Sack 'em.

After working in the public sector for many years, I would back any such proposals

Too many ****s go off sick on full pay, or threaten to go to court over bullshit claims whilst getting full pay

I believe in giving people chances but employers should not be scared to fire an employee
