For them there is no such thing as bad publicity. They will exploit the anger generated. Disgraceful.

I'm not willing to say it's deliberate...

... But it certainly appears that way. If it turns out it is deliberate I hope people do boycott their products. Certainly, this horrible stunt worked for them. I had never heard of topman before now. Are they famous over there?

So they're basically a rich snob clothing line. Funny they came out with such a tasteless shirt.

No Nordstrom near me. You have to go to a city with a lot of wealthy elites to find a Nordstrom. I think Atlanta (4 hours drive from me) is the closest Nordstrom.

well i wouldn't call it rich snob but I get you, over there nordstrom is exactly that. funny funny at you merchants. I went into a few looking for stuff for presents.

I was in one in 3 different states but i think i bought only in one and went elsewhere the rest of the time.

I'd have called top shop a youth fashion like abercombie and fitch (spelling?) or the one with the deck chairs outside.

Absolutely disgraceful. Why choose red? Why 96 on the back, immediately makes it sports related.

I almost wish I shopped there so I could stop shopping there.

Now withdrawn apparently and they apologised. It was made in Italy, Turin some of the rags are saying. Type of thing you expect to be made in China.

Made in Turin?, That would explain a lot, Juventus are based in Turin.

I know there's supposedly no such thing as bad publicity, but I don't see how this benefits the shop at all if deliberate. Apart from some (emphasis on some) extremely bitter and twisted fans from rival clubs who'd go buy it, most people would condemn them for it. It's not like people are gonna shop at Topman because of them being muppets is it? They're not like celebs who can sell a bad story and still make money.

I'd be more inclined to say that it is a terrible coincidence, but my god, how braindead would would the staff need to be to let such a design get through the (I'm guessing) multiple and extensive checks, research and probably consumer surveys. Never mind the extremely long odds of every single one of those people involved having zero clue about the relevance of the number and colour to the football community.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic about seeing the best in others, but I can't see it being deliberate...just 99% stupidity or exceptional bad luck

If you remember i quoted/highlghted in #11 that the Bob Marley remix was also done in Turin. So in fairness it would be no surprise that origins of the shirt came from that region. Dare i suggest that maybe the Bob Marley song & Top Man got played in some designers political agenda...just a thought.

I wouldn't have thought too much of it but that's a very Liverpool Red , that seals the deal for me.

Who shops at that ****hole anyway...flip flop wearing Skinny jean and Latte type of ****in idiot, that's who.

I said at the beginning of this thread, the only bit i didn't understand in regards to the shirt was the use of the white rose, especially if it was 'supposedly' linked to the memory of Bob Marley. Well for me that is another mystery cleared up and is now more or less all the answers apart from not knowing who the actual designer was, and how we would love to know the identity of that person or persons. The white rose slipped my attention in that it is actually commonly associated with being the symbol of Yorkshire ie for example I think i'm correct in saying Leeds United have it in their logo. Yorkshire, enough said! As i said at the beginnings of this thread I'm not a Liverpool supporter but it is clear as a neutral that something has gone on here that has well over stepped the mark, and i would even be brazen enough to say this has been done purposely, regardless of what the people at Topman knew, they allowed it in to their chain and they themselves need to be seeking answers and be transparent publically about the people involved in its creation, especially it's links within Turin.

I haven’t made that Turin link before. The phrase “what goes round comes around” + the red shirt + the 96 + the flowers coming out of the number 96 + the Turin link makes any coincidence unlikely. This is a reference to a comeuppance and that’s truly offensive.

Just reading some of the vile comments on the original Mail link posted. Why do people think that LFC fans either 'own' or 'want to own' the number 96? That's just plain ridiculous. Clothing with 96 emblazoned on it isn't offensive in any way, it's the combination of design on this particular shirt that makes it offensive.
