We've still got to play City at home which is good. Looking down the fixture list, West Ham and the Mancs have some tough fixtures. West Ham have still got to play United. We've got a fairly decent run in as well.
We have little to no margin for error for that to happen as the other teams have the points and a game in hand as it stands. As much as i'd love it to happen, we're struggling to be consistent during one game, let alone the next 7. If we lose against Leicester then its mathematically impossibly for us to win the league
We are averaging 2 points a game over the past 10 games and are only behind Leicester and Spuds in the form table over the same period. We have also been missing Vic and Sadio has been off form. There were signs yesterday that both will play a big part in the run in and with a returning Jay and Charlie in the mix and an almost full squad to choose from we have reason to be optimistic. It is unlikely that around 60 pts will be enough for the top four, but I think it will get Europa League qualification, but we could possibly gain more than 60 pts if our defence returns to its' previous form.
Im going to go ahead and say no. Dont think we will get europa this season either. Happy to be proved wrong tho
We're too inconsistent. The only thing that we've done consistently is go on a poor run after international/other breaks in the fixture list.
Odds on us finishing in the top four range from 25-1 to 80-1. With seven matches remaining, and the teams above us all having a game in hand (and Liverpool behind having two), we'd need to finish out the year with 16+ points, hope that City cannot win more than half their remaining matches, and hope that Liverpool/West Ham/Man U are unable to put together a decent stretch. Possible. Ideally that'd mean taking 4-6 points from our matches against Leicester, Spurs and Man City, and running the table otherwise. Very, very unlikely though.
You've got to love fans. One game where we're rubbish for 45 minutes and then work our socks off against a team who already thought the game was done, to win and we ask about top 4? Sorry, but no. It's been a crazy season so mathematically anything is possible, however I think there is more likeliness of finishing 10th than 4th. Of course, I hope I am wrong.
It has been a crazy season, but not that crazy. We could have made top 4 if we had won some of the games we should have won. We have done well to be still in contention for the Europa places, but need to up our game and be more consistent even to make that. Shame our GD isn't more spectacular because it may come down to that. My hope is Europe, but my guess is 7th (with other results meaning that 7th isn't good enough this season). I think keeping our place this season is an achievement...8th, 7th and 7th over the last 3 seasons would be good. We are within touching distance of being a very good side....need to keep most of the players and to get a couple of excellent buys (i.e. not just players to add depth). However, we also need to somehow master consistency the way Leicester have.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 The Mail ask the same question....theoretically possible to get a CL spot, more likely to get a Europa place. Sums us up accurately by saying our style varies from brilliant to turgid.
I would rather achieve a solid finish to the prem and aquire 6th spot. Thus progressing on previous seasons and avoiding the qualifying rounds of the Europa League.
