I suggest you have a look at what a good manager does for a club here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFC_Bournemouth

agreed. I’ve been to Bournemouth for 2 away games and it’s a ****ing **** hole of a ground. 10,000 squeeze into a 3rd division ground and the fans have the animation of a rock.

Bournemouth were never ever going to stay up indefinitely, Howe worked a miracle keeping them up for 8 years.

He's the best option for a club like us on the market, Rafa walked at a **** time for us, we had no striker and all the good managers had jobs, now a bunch are free.

Perfect time to move Bruce out and hire Howe. We won't tho.

I'm not saying he's a bad manager, I'm just saying his transfers were bad when he had money to spend, he had reached the end of his time at Bournemouth and they were ready for a change,as they weren't going anywhere fast, he should have left a season or 2 before when his stock was hire and they could have brought in a manager to take them to the next level.

I wouldn't say he worked a miracle, he was spending 40 million per season. Which isn't a great deal compared to the big clubs, but it's enough to invest in the future and solidify them as a Premier league club, they shouldn't have gone down, the money he spent was on some absolute dross lower level players and he kept the older players for far too long. He still had the championship mentality which we accuse Bruce of having.

Tindall isn't doing too bad now with them.

That is a critiscm levied at him, but is immaterial at Newcastle as he shouldnt be signing any of our players.

We have head coaches remember, he's given players.

They were a solid prem side for a while, they're an absolutely tiny club.

Who spent 50 mil last season and 80 mil the season before and didn't kick on. Just like Bruce has spent 100 mil and hasn't kicked on.

You're not telling the full story though, you're purposely leaving out context which is extremely important.

They had a players revolt there, Fraser didn't want to play any longer, Howe had been there for YEARS.

You must recognise that after years a managers voice loses its impact, there position becomes far harder and you will eventually need to make a managerial change. That's the game. Unless its a Fergie.

Howe was offered the Arsenal job, he should have taken it, instead it went wrong and it all ended up drying out at Bournemouth.

You're literally asking Eddie Howe to keep Bournemouth in the Premier League indefinitely, completely ignoring that everyone around them also spends money, they sheer length of time they were already in the Premier League because of him and the football they played.

You're a statsman. But stats in football do lie

Getting Bournemouth to the PL from bottom of the league on a shoestring is an achievement in itself. Keeping them there season after season is another level. Money? Well yes. The PL TV money gave spending power. Howe has achieved more in his relatively short career than Bruce has or ever will. Howe had a blip at Burnley. To do what he did at Bournemouth should not be understated. It was Wimbledonesque.

Well that was abysmal. This whole let them have possession and defend the last 3rd worked okay for Rafa, although it was still boring to watch, as he had the defence well-drilled. Even if we know we are going to get stuffed we have to start trying to retain possession.

Its impossible to even start to impose yourself on the game with 20-30% and it comes back to haunt us when we play the ****ter sides as we have a team of players who don't know what to do when they start actually seeing more of the ball.

The players we have are mostly passable lower PL standard players but their equivalents in teams like Fulham, West Brom, Sheff Utd are at least being given the opportunity to play football. Ours will soon have forgotten how to completely.

Darlow was probably our best player but he is either very unsure on the ball or brain-dead. The number of times he hoofed balls up field to Joelinton who was playing on his own upfront and it was just coming straight back. Most team prefer to try and keep possession now so the goalkeeper generally rolls it out to his defenders - can't figure out why we don't at least try.

But the most disappointing thing about Saturday was I still don't know how much @LiamO turds weigh.

Horrific again. Yes they are a cracking side and clearly on a high, but we were pathetic.

I've had 4 or 5 seasons of watching us not close the ball now. I'm sick of it. Bruce can't even do that as good as Rafa, but truth be told any wanting to watch any of the **** over the last 5 seasons needs their head tested. Its not ****ing enjoyable!

Football is dead at this club while this owner continues to stagnate us.

Its why I'm staggered we have a literal Rafa cult member on here.

Who in their right ****ing mind would want us to get a takeover and spend what, 2 or 3 more years playing 5 at the back.

Its not football, if it is, I'm out.

Sick to absolute death of this club.

Absolutely not. Rafa would be a horrific appointment and would make no sense at all for a club aspiring to be running with the bigger players. He is horrifically difficult to follow because he has a very unique style. So he purchases players to suit his defensive counter style. Teams are often left one dimensional and its an incredibly difficult culture to change. Hence players often don't on to much afterwards, and teams need a major overhaul playing staff wise.

What is even more difficult is when you have Steve Bruce trying to manage that transition from the previous coach...

I just hate us getting left behind more and more every year. Ashley truly does not give a ****. The one manager he has paid money for was the most negative **** on the planet. The rest are just a collection of guys discarded by English football ages ago. Its been a horrific 12-13 years now and the buck stops at the top.
