Skysports.com understands a host of English sides are tracking FC Copenhagen defender Mathias Jorgensen.

Jorgensen is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe after impressing for club and country over the last 12 months.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a key player for Copenhagen since joining from B93 in 2007.

Jorgensen caught the eye in this season's UEFA Champions League campaign, including the two games against Chelsea, and he helped Copenhagen retain their title this year.

His form has not gone unnoticed around Europe, with clubs all across the continent keeping tabs on his situation.

The likes of Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle are all thought to be admirers of Jorgensen having watched him in action recently.

Italian giants Roma are also tracking the talented central defender along with German trio Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim.

FC Copenhagen are reluctant to lose Jorgensen as they prepare for next season's Champions League, but they could face a fight to fend off the growing interest in the player.

  2. FFS!!

Why is it that there's always a club like Tottenham interested in the same players we are?

We're a bigger club than Tottenahm but i think most players would go to Spurs for the CL/Europe.

Wouldn't say no, Williamson needs replacing I reckon or should be fourth choice CB. Decent fella and handy backup but should be last on the list. If Colo or Taylor get injured we need better backup.

Jorgensen is one of the biggest prospects ATM in European football. Would be very good in 2-3 years time I reckon

Also the fact that Tottenham likely have no wage-cap and more money to spend than us.

I doubt it, they'll have to sell after not making the Champs League and i wouldn't rule out Harry jumping ship to Chelsea. Spurs will be ****ed next season!

I dunno like...Did you see Lord Sugar tackles football? Maybe it was biased due to Sugar's connections but it made Spurs out to be a pretty steady ship! PLUS they've not really bought too much in their Champions League season - VDV, Piennar, Gallas...anyone else?

    This guy as well

Manchester United and Newcastle are ready to take of advantage of RC Lens' relegation and snap up defender Raphael Varane.
The Frenchman broke into the Lens first team this season and was one of their stand-out performers in a campaign that ended in relegation from Ligue A this weekend.
French magazine L'Sport claims Sir Alex Ferguson and Alan Pardew, along with several other European clubs, are keen on acquiring the £9m rated centre-back.
They also quote Varane as saying: "I hope a meeting with the club will happen next week and we can discuss the situation."
The 18-year-old has represented France at both under-18 and under-21 level and made 19 appearances in Lens' doomed campaign this season.

He's french, maybe get Hatem on the case?

I didn't mate, but they have debt and the wage bill is huge. They will have a big clear out come the summer and i just can't see them trying to buy their way into 4th, they can't financially compete with Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, City and even now, Liverpool. Without the lure of CL football and the fall in revenue, the likes of Bale, Modric, VDV, Lennon and Defoe will be targets for the top 4 and if Spurs get offered silly money they will sell. Harry won't want to be a part of that if Roman offers him the keys to the Chelsea coffers.

Aye fair point. I think they'll either get silly money for players like Defoe, Crouch, Pav and Krankjar (i.e. over the top £8-20m each) and do some serious wheeler-dealing or sell Bale for a ridiculously inflated price.

I think you're right about 4th spot...Don't see anyone breaking the monopoly!

Man City are a season away from being Champions.
Man Utd are investing in youth and are ALWAYS strong.
Chelsea will bring in new players for the new manager.
Arsenal HAVE to bring in new players. GK, CB, ST (but will have money from the Fabregas move)
Liverpool have only spent £6m and have a world class forward line, spend another £30m and they'll be lethal!

I actually think Krancjar will go for peanuts. I'd like to see us have a cheeky bid, although can't see where he would fit.

Spurs' other problem is at the back, Gallas and Dawson are their only proven, fit CB's. They are gonna have to invest to replace Woodgate and King and it won't be cheap.

Bale won't go for more than Carroll, his stock will drop. He's a talent, but he's prone to injury and has had 1 stand out season. He ain't Messi or Ronaldo.

I said last season that Spurs' foray into the CL was a one off while City sort their teething issues. I think they'll push United and Chelsea all the way.

Spurs wage cap is around 60k i believe, with only a couple of exceptions. Even VDV is only on 40k a week, although i presume he gets bonuses on top of that.
