....on Talksport radio. Very interesting & enlightening. He's being very open & honest about his drink & drugs problems. A very good listen actually. Not sure if it will be available on their website but if it is, it's well worth a listen.
One of my great SAFC memories is going to Arsenal for an FA Cup tie and singing the North Bank out of the ground. Adams had been sent down for drink driving and the chant through the second half was "where's your donkey gone?" to the tune of "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" by Middle of the Road. Adams has done a lot of good with his rehab stuff since then though. Must be 20 years since that game...
Read his book Billy, very very good read. Opened my eyes quite a bit. One of the stories still makes me chuckle. He was on a bender and woke up the next morning and had shat himself, just got up off the floor and went out again without changing! That how bad it had got. Thought different about the bloke after reading it, played his best footy after conquering his demons.
If you read Quinn’s' as well you'll find similar stories about all nighters at the casino before staggering to the Tube to get to training
Aye, I've read it, he lifts the lid on a lot of things. What was the pub called? The Chequers I think, near Arsenal's London Colney base. Aye, read that one too, pretty sure Quinny claimed that Paul Merson blames him for his alcohol problems, the three of them were big drinking buddy's at the time. Quinny also said that had it not been for his lass dragging him out of it he'd have ended up in the gutter.
Got to say full respect for Adams for the way he has turned his life around a pity people like Barton can't take a leaf out of his book.
