Tomlin haunted by chance that got away please log in to view this image Lee Tomlin City goalscorer wishes he'd struck earlier after brave cup exit. Tomlin reflects on chance not taken in cup defeat to Hull City trailed 2-0 when substitute broke through only to be thwarted by the keeper Tomlin did score in added time but Premier League side held on to reach quarter-finals Lee Tomlin admits he was left pondering what might have been after last night’s 2-1 EFL Cup defeat at the hands of Hull City. Used as a second-half substitute, Tomlin scored City’s only goal in the fourth round tie at Ashton Gate, but could easily have scored ten minutes earlier. On the back of a superb solo run, Tomlin found himself free inside the penalty area but fired straight at Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic. Speaking today, Tomlin said: “They’re a Premier League team and I think we performed well. Who knows what would have happened if I had scored my chance before the goal I did get. “I thought the keeper would go down quicker than he did, but he stayed up for a long time. He forced me to make a decision. I gave him the eyes, but he read it. “I’ve got to take that chance and then my goal forces extra time at the end. We may have even nicked it right at the end with Tammy’s chance. “The lads should be proud, we battered them. But the standards I set myself are ridiculous and I feel like I lost us the game – if it goes to extra time, then I think we would have won.” Tomlin also took time out to praise 19-year-old debutant and fellow substitute Shawn McCoulsky. He added: “I want to congratulate Shawn on his debut. “I thought he did well when he came on. He made some good runs, looked sharp and held the ball up well. “It’s great to see a lad from the Academy playing. We know the gaffer is keen to promote from the Academy. “Hopefully Shawn will keep working hard and scoring goals and I’m sure more chances will come.” http://www.bcfc.co.uk/
NO NEED TO BE HAUNTED BY IT that's life .... had it gone in might well have been 1-3 or 3-2 or any other score you wish
And if we had beaten them we would have faced a trip to Newcastle Tomlin is the only City player worth a place in the best of Championship side currently
Tammy hasn't scored in a few games. To make the League team he will need to continue his onslaught. If he hits 20 goals I would put him in
