Brentford have rekindled their interest in Bristol Rovers defender Tom Parkes.

Bees boss Mark Warburton is hopeful of adding as many as three new faces to his newly-promoted squad in the next few weeks.

On Warburton's summer shopping list is a left-sided defender, box-to-box midfielder and a striker as he tries to bolster his ranks for the Championship campaign.

Brentford looked at Parkes last summer but failed to follow up their interest with a concrete offer.

However, the 22-year-old, who came through the same Leicester City academy side as Warburton's son, Jack, has continued to catch the eye for the Gas this term.

Parkes still has two years to run on his deal at the Memorial Ground, where he has racked up more than 100 appearances.

Good solid defender, but has concentration issues and his distribution is pretty suspect.

We need to get a good fee for him at least 300k but most likely end up with something like 50k

Also been reading that they are looking at Smudger but he is settled in Bristol and doesn't want to up sticks and move. Also as we have offered him a contract a fee would be involved and Brentfords manager has said in an interview he will not be held to ransom on fees as he wants to continue the clubs financial policy.

£50k would be poor bit of business. He is young so has age on his side, still has 2 years left on his contract and been captain too so all good things that should get a good deal.
