Ince started the first 3-4 games, that was it, he hasn't started a game since and he's never played on the wing for us except a briet sub appearance against Leicester where he looked dangerous. Writing him off based on his very small number of games as a striker is mental. If Livermore had played badly at RB when he was used there would people say he doesn't care? I recall he played alright and Bruce still got stick for playing him out of position! Ince has never had a chance in his proper position and we're writing him off!

Bruce seems to have this theory that all wingers can play up front, I'm sure if we'd have signed Lennon he'd of probably played up there too. <laugh>

“Credit Simmo and Eric, they told me to play Tom because of how he had trained all week,”

<laugh> Brilliant, so there goes the old "he must be crap and lazy in training" theory. Anyone got any other plausible reasons to why he hasn't been given a chance?

Back in October, Bruce commended one of our players for his 'terrific professionalism' and for 'putting in extra hours' in training, guess who it was?

That probably all stopped when he realised he was being played out of position as well.

Not true, I'm afraid. He started against Arsenal in the cup, for example. One the wing, I recall. And was awful. He was better when moved more centrally later in the game, but still not good enough in my view -- and not enough fight or desire for a team at the wrong end of the table. If we do get relegated, and next season we're challenging for promotion, he might be more successful (if he's still with us, which I doubt).

He definitely wasn't, he was arguably one of our most dangerous players and few can deny that.

Well I would deny that. As I said, he improved slightly when played more centrally later in the game but for most of the game he wasn't good enough.

You do realise that was the only game he's started since the opening two or three games of the season? And it was away at the emirates...yeah god you're right I mean how he didn't make an huge impact and bag a couple of goals is shameful.

I don't think it's shameful, I just don't think it's a big loss that he's on loan at Derby where he can regain confidence and increase his value in a team playing attacking football and doing well in a league one below the one in which he was struggling when played, in a struggling side.

Whatever the case with Ince, there's more to it than meets the eye, he's said something or done something to SB, that's why he's gone AGAIN!

He probably asked why the same players are given opportunities week in week out but he isn't, and why when he does come on as a sub (for 10 minutes) he is stuck upfront.

Blows my mind how some people on here seem almost celebratory at the thought of getting rid of him, so much so that they hope he continues to improve and score a bag full of goals. This kid is a promising young player who plays well regularly for the England U21s and is playing well for Derby as he did for Blackpool.

He has been made a scapegoat somewhat for our awful season despite the fact he has barely been given any consistent game time or played in his natural position. There have been so many players this year that have been bad yet they are continually played and go under the radar whereas Ince is thrown to the wolfs and made an example of.

Some people think Bruce is the messiah and is exempt from getting things wrong and has a 100% record of judgement. My fear is that we sell him and he goes on to be a top class player for someone else in the Premier League at our expense. You know this is Bruce who signed Sagbo, Ben Afra, Proschwitz, Danny Graham.

How is Ince meant to improve, gain form and gain confidence if he isn't played. He has been just as good or just as bad as the majority of the squad.

In comparison, some people think Bruce is ****ing awful and we should get rid as soon as and despite whether we get a good result or not they will always find something to complain about. My fear is that we get rid of him and we go on a slump in which it will take a good while to get out of. You know this is Bruce who signed Jelavic, Quinniesta, Robertson, McGregor, Huddlestone, Livermore, Boyd, Long, Elmo, all players who have had superb contributions at some point whilst he has been here.

By going out on loan to a successful, attacking team. That's happened. As far as I'm concerned that's a win for him, and a win for us.

    Exactly.

Personally, I haven't written him off at all.

I've been disappointed in him so far, he's knocked off the ball far too easily(he makes Aluko look like Thiago Silva), but he still has potential.

The problem we have, is that the rest of our squad suits a system that doesn't suit him, so it's absolutely right that he goes out to play regularly elsewhere.
