Just seen that the lad is out of contract now. He's starred for Hull and is English so surely worth a cheeky punt?
Yep, we should go and get him. Knows the Championship and has fallen out with Bruce which explains the running down of his contract. The main opinion of the Hull board seems to be for keeping him if possible, which is a good sign. Just a worry he'd be angling for a 5 year deal when ideally we'd sign him up for 3. Not sure he'd be more than a squad player after promotion, assuming we bounce straight back up.
Agree with Chaos, Huddlestone's a bit of a playboy, big salary, not particularly mobile but probably the only player to strike the ball as hard as roberto carlos. Would prefer someone younger who could grow into a prem player like will hughes or even that Roofe kid from oxford!
Huddlestone - they ran his contract down and he was informed by Bruce he'd be going if they didn't go up, but likely an offer would be made if they did. I'd imagine he fancies the PL. If he is free he could do a job but being honest I think he is a championship player, so it would be a 1 year only thing.
That was my view, he'll do a job in the Championship but the PL is above him now. He'll not want to mess around with short deals at his age, I'd expect him to push for 4-5 years to see him through to the end of his career, and much like with Nolan we'll tell him where to go. Probs not the best fit in that case eh?
