It looks like Huddlestone and Livermore will start. Koren is a doubt with a hamstring injury picked up in training. Faye and Quinn are definitely out. Bruce suggested it was "highly unlikely" any new faces would arrive before deadline, but "never say never". No offers have been placed for anyone new, neither are any new outgoings expected(I assume that doesn't include Mclean, who we know has already been told to find a new club).
If that's the case do we have enough fire power up front to keep us in the division? Suppose it's hard to judge after one game but I'm not convinced we have.
I think we're actively looking for another striker, but Bruce is just holding this safe line in case we don't manage to get someone.
We'll no doubt be looking for somebody else, but it'd undermine the players in those current positions if SB came out and said we were looking to strengthen in those positions. I'd have thought our performance in our first 3 games will have a bearing on incomings and out goings. Livermore and Thudd should be starting, they're our best players. Interesting to see who picks up the captaincy (I'm guessing it'll either be Rosenior or Figueroa, as their the 2 most experienced squad members. Maybe Davies at a push or McGregor, but I'm not a fan of goalkeepers being captains as they can't bark at players further up the field).
Hopefully your right, we may be okay with what we have, all but Graham are unknown quantities in the PL and may do well, Graham has shown he can be great or he can be awful, lets hope for the former! I'd feel more confident if we brought one more in but it wouldn't be a disaster if we didn't.
A great chance for whomever is given the captaincy to show they deserve it. Heart says Thudd, head says Davies or Figueroa.
Agreed. We have some money to spend and with McLean and Stewarts wages more than likely going as well that puts more cash into the kitty. Dont forget that there are many players on the FAT list after 2nd sept. But we all know that SB has a habbit of a late deal or 2.
I think the problem is most of us think a proven striker would really finish this team off and give us a great chance of staying up but having just spent £5.25 mil on Huddlestone how much is there likely to be left in the kitty? My guess would be not much, so do we take another punt on someone like Sagbo? I'm not sure. I think I'm in a minority here but I'd still take Gedo back, as an option of the bench I'd say he's more likely to change a game than Boyd, Fryatt, Proschwitz, etc and he wouldn't cost us too much, doubt we'll go for him, that's just how I see it.
I think Davies has been pushing himself forward as captain since the day he signed. He was also excellent last Sunday.
he was at major fault for the first goal, was chasing a tackle on the touchline which he missed, which meant he was out of position and then jogged back and played Oscar onside
There seems to be little interest shown in McLean even on a free due to his automatic salary increase off the back of promotion. Not a great situation for him or the club really.
I wonder if SB wants to see how Matty Fryatt performs once he is fully fit and over his injury mentally. Maybe in training there are signs he is starting to improve, and he might just play off Sagbo or Graham.
