I tried to watch England v Spain at Carrow Road yesterday. Really wanted to get into it but the quality especially crosses and shots from distance was extremely poor. They can't generate enough power and everything looks like slow motion. Made it until 60 mins and turned over. They always complain that the women's game doesn't get as much coverage and lower attendances but it's not comparable. Without being too disrespectful to the Lionesses a decent pub team would easily beat them .
Just noticed this, trying to get him back up to speed for the first team, or acceptance that he's completely out of the first team picture..?
If he's losing a bench spot to Placheta and Rowe then he might as well get / keep his match fitness up in the 23s. He'd still be training with the 1st team wouldn't he?
Given that Kabak and Rowe also played in that game I think it's building match fitness in all of them. All are still in the first team picture.
Report on all 3 players here: https://www.norfolklive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tzolis-kabak-norwich-u23-villa-6699623 And here: https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/u23s-report-v-villa
Tzolis getting a lot of stick on the socials for missing an open goal. What has happened to this guy, now he’s playing for the u23s? I know they said at the start of the season that he was one we need to be patient on so perhaps he is one for next season but I thought it would mean he will show flashes of brilliance and naevity equally however we just don’t see him at all at the moment. From what I have seen of him I would summise that he needs to develop his pressing game and generally his work against the ball and that is probably why we aren’t seeing him. Interested in what others think though?
This is the Tzolis miss, fair enough it is bad but the kid is still very young and I believe he can develop just looks to have zero confidence at the moment
His instincts were right, anticipating a possible rebound and then going for the top corner as defenders sought to block it. Not a terrible miss, IMO, and giving him a hard time won't do anything for his confidence.
Compare the confidence oozing out of him in the EFL Cup game against Bournemouth and first half of the next round tie against Liverpool, with his hangdog look and scared demeanour on the touchline when waiting to come on in his few sub appearances since then. This is a young guy who, just turned 20 years of age, has already made 9 appearances for the Greek national team! His confidence is clearly shot but social media isn't responsible for that.
At HT at Anfield, Leeds are already 3-0 down and have yet to have a shot of any kind. They've now conceded the same number of goals as we have (53). We'll stay 6 points behind them with the same games played if they go on to lose. It would be great if Palace can keep their 2-1 lead at Watford and Spurs manage to score and beat Burnley as well. Edit: Burnley have just gone ahead. Spurs could end up ruing their missed chances.
Well at least Palace have done us a favour. Not looking great though with Burnley and Newcastle finding form. Feels like Norwich, Watford +1 right now
Burnley winning is a blow, but Watford and Leeds getting thumped (4-0 now) means there's still at least 7 teams within reach if we can put some results together.
You have to admit they do what they do very well. They are hard to beat (without checking, I think only 9 defeats this season) and hope to do enough to just pick up a few wins. Although this may sound like sour grapes, there's no way I'd want NCFC to play like they do.
