Normally before a home game with the likes of Stoke (Not sky four) I feel excited. I'd be checking the table to see what difference the anticipated three points would do to our league position. Today I'm nervous. It's the feeling you get when your "best man" at a wedding preparing to do your speech. It's not a pleasant feeling which seems to be getting worse as the minuets drag by. As we approach kick off, BIB's and BOB's become united to form the best set of fans in Football. It's good to feel at one with your fellow fans again. I just hope we are all happy come Supper time. Defeat is unthinkable today!!! That said my nervousness tells me it's very possible and could be devastating for Bruce in particular but also Quinny. FTM
No doubting today's result is huge. If it goes wrong this could get messy but lets not go into that, Bruce has to stick two proper strikers up-front and our players will have to actually earn their money today! Give us something long overdue to shout about home!
i think we will win, but i dont think its a massive game!! weve only played a few games, spurs are only one point ahead of us for example haha.. think this overeaction with the mags game is going a bit mad now like! we have played some good football just need a few to start going in we are creating enough chances so hopefully its today they start to go in..
Creating boatloads of chances smithy but with no strikers getting on the end of them what's the point? We have to play with 2 strikers so at least we could get on some of those chances, our defence is my big worry with no full backs on the pitch. We have a decent pair of CBs in Brown (who has surprised me to be honest) and hopefully O'Shea if we can keep him fit. Stoke use their wingers well and the only way to stop that is to peg them back by attacking constantly, still going for a tight 2-1 mate a bit too tight if I'm honest but 3 points and mid table mediocrity. I do think it is a massive game for us as defeat would mean more pressure on the next game which is away and, even more pressure on Bruce and Quinn who are in my opinion running out of time.
We will win today, of that I have no doubt. Not saying it will be easy or pretty but win we will. Paty tonight
Normally I'd agree with you mate. A home game v Stoke would not normally be considered massive. Something inside is telling me it is today.
i agree with both your points talc& cyprus but i just think its too early to start thinking its a must win game, we havent played badly yet and were creating loads of chances were in the same boat as swansea/qpr they have played some great football but untill yesterday didnt click.. it will come and if we start with 2 up top today im sure we will have enough about us to take all 3 points ha'way the lads..
Yes, it was easy, and yes, it was absolutely beautiful. Thank you Sunderland, you have brought me joy once more.
