Dundee United manager Peter Houston has called for Summer football after their goaless draw with Motherwell is blamed on gale force winds and driving rain.
I have to agree. Summer football has to be the way forward and it would attract so much more interest and money into the Scottish game. They would be a few issues to overcome but I can't believe these are insurmountable. It's time for a radical change for the SPL. Tinkering with the league format is not enough.
PS Good result for us today.

Agreed but we could get a day like yesterday at any time of the year.

P.s. Houston's a baldy **** and has no right to breath air.
p.p.s that is all I have to say
    P.p.p.s apart from this

It would certainly make the league more attractive to the likes of Sky who have **** all to fill their schedules with during the summers, although it will cause issues when major tournaments are on.

    Problem is...Scottish Weather.

We could so easily get this weekend's weather in August/September. It generally pisses down over the Summer and March/April are hardly known for being a nice few months for a picnic!

what happens if say celtic and rangers reach the latter stages of the europa league? we'd have no competitive games to keep us match sharp.

countries like russia who have more severe winters than ours have moved away from winter football and are now roughly in line with most of europe.

In the Republic of Ireland they start the season in February, have a month close down in June and finish at the end of October.
It may have its draw-backs every season span would have but their teams are getting better results in Europe. Shamrock Rovers
this season as qualified for the league stages of Europa League, a fantastic occasion for a tiny league operating on a pittance.
At this stage my main concern would be getting Celtic and Rangers qualified into Champions League and Europa League and worry
about how they do after league stages later. Rosenborg's performance in C.L. must be down to their playing calender.
