Jumped up little know it all has been in the job five minutes and achieved naff all yet. Is he the most arrogant little twerp to ever manage a football club? http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...cio-Pochettino-he-won-t-take-his-job-at-Spurs
http://www.theguardian.com/football...no-tottenham-southampton?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487 In answer to Tim: If Andros Townsend was at Southampton he would be out on loan now.....not good enough mate.
Good for him. He's defending his corner and I partly admire that. Ok, he belittles us a tad, but I'm ok with that to. I like being off the radar and we have been right in the mile of the radar recently. Tottenham are a bigger club than us and in terms of expectations are above us too. I liked the Championship season, when we calmly pushed up to the top of the table while everyone was waxing lyrical about Poyet's Brighton. Stealthily is good for me. I'd like nothing better than over the next three months their to be no more noise from Saints, we go under the radar again, slowly close that big gap on the top 7. beat a couple of lower league teams at home in the cup and all of a sudden get to April and we are semi-finalists of the FA Cup and 6th in the league. Let Sherwood have his say and sit on his perch. I don't like Lowe, but yes, North London arrogant bullies
With his Pompey connections it would be easy to dislike Sherwood, but I think he is quite entertaining and fair play to him for talking himself into a big managers job. I think he has the force of character to be a good premier league manager, but I think his lack of coaching experience will be his undoing at Spurs. Of course it should be pointed out that Spurs expectations comes with greater resources to achieve. It's all relative dear boy
Has Mauricio linked himself to Spurs...no! Has he denigrated Spurs in any way...no! Methinks, Sherwood doth protest too much...must be feeling uneasy on his throne. I'm not sure that a player having 8 loans is necessarily a good thing...we bring our lads through within the club. It's our style. Don't understand the attack as we are not playing them next...suspect a journalist may be causing mischief and he stepped into the trap.
To be fair to Sherwood, he probably didn't say those words in the order they have been printed. We all know how stories are blown out of proportion by reporters desperate for a scoop.
Was quoted by 2 papers though, but I suspect he was provoked. All this talk about Mauricio is pure speculation...and I mean that literally and not in the modern parlance of meaning 'true but we are not telling you'. The media have decided that we are similar to Spurs...a team that like to play football, not the top rank but in the second tier...therefore our manager might suit them and he's photogenic so why not.
I don't think so. Pochettino is seen as having proven himself. Media decide that Spurs are a step up and that managers like footballers are always looking for the first opportunity to move up. I don't think many expect Sherwood to complete the contract he has until the end of next season and now most media outlets are assuming that Pochettino will be moving on in the summer. Credible link to make really. But Sherwood is implying we play youngsters because we are at a lower level. Doesn't seem to understand the 'southampton way'.
It must have rankled with Sherwood to see press speculation linking Pochettino with his job. You can hardly blame him for having a gentle dig back. And he's probably right about English coaches wanting him to succeed.
Weird comment about 9 loans. Obviously feels Tottenham do a better job bringing through youth. Evidence???
No he's implying that we play youngsters because we have to. In that at 'our level' which is 'top half at best' we can afford to play kids whereas Tottenham being a 'massive club' can't afford that luxury. He's trying to suggest that Townsend is better than our youngsters yet wasn't good enough to play for Tottenham's 'big team' until he had matured at other clubs. Doesn't disguise the fact that Townsend's 1 assist and 1 goal from an intended cross whilst having more shots than Soldado is garbage and he wouldn't get into our first 11
I saw this last night, and was thinking of making a thread, so I'm glad you have. Bloody cocky sod. Who does he think he is? hasn't even got any coaching badges.
He'll be out the job when the honeymoon period ends and the going gets tough. Has nowhere near enough pedigree for the Spurs job, he's an interim like Rafa was at Chelsea last season. Sent from my RM-914_eu_euro1_337 using Tapatalk
Indeed, he probably made a couple of small remarks and they have been made into a scoop. We give it too much credence by highlighting it. And I'm as guilty as anyone else for putting my 5 eggs worth in as well.
